He’s the bad boy of the Amsterdam techno underground: Daniel Sanchez, 26 year old son of a Spanish father and a Dutch mother, who scored one of the biggest hits of the summer of 2007 with the infectious ‘Mumbling yeah’. Daniel’s ‘mumbling’ vocals give the track that special edge.
Tegenstellingen leiden tot de mooiste dingen, zo blijkt ook uit de samenwerking tussen disco-housemeester Hans-Peter Lindstrøm en zangeres Christabelle Sandoo, voorheen bekend als Solale.
Slick Chick is a 27 year-old disco-freak from Rotterdam. She started playing records about seven years ago. At the time she and her friends were throwing nonprofit parties in dirty warehouses throughout the Netherlands and beyond. Soon she got the hang of it and started to play at her own parties. She played hard and straightforward industrial techno and acid at the time, which originated in England and was spreading over the Dutch squat scene in the late nineties.
After a while her attention started to shift towards other styles of music and soon she became fascinated by the robotic sound of the synthesizer disco produced in early eighties by artist like Giorgio Moroder. So she started to dig deeper in her quest for the more obscure sound of disco music. This has resulted in a rare collection of italo disco, spacedisco, new wave, synthpop and old Chicago house-classics as well as The Hague electronics today.
She has played the decks at various clubs in her hometown and the rest of Holland. She is also one of the deejays at the Chicks on Technics-parties in Rotterdam.
She gets her inspiration from artists like Loud e, David Vunk and I-f and his former radio station CBS, which has now made room for the new Intergalactic FM.
