When asked to describe his sound, John Selway replies: It's hard to categorize it. I have to keep it moving, never to get stuck on a genre too long.
Since releasing his first record Trance Jazz with Exodus Quartet in 1991, John Selway has continuously given the world of electronic music a wide variety of sounds. From techno to electro, with over 40 releases under different pseudonyms and labels, Selway commands the respect of his peers and audience.
Trained as a classical violinist, Selway took his musical talents to the realm of electronic music. In conjunction with Oliver Chesler, Selway launched the renowned hard techno act, Disintegrator, which led to many club appearances both domestic and abroad. Combining talents on more ambitious projects with Carl Cox, Lenny Dee, and others, would allow John to refine his production skills. And by 1995, John would go on to create his own electro label, Serotonin, with computer genius, Jason Szostek. Several of his releases prior to this are considered to be classic in scope by industry insiders.
With 1999 coming to a close, John Selway is hearing praise for the most productive year of his career. DJs the likes of Jeff Mills and Sasha can be heard playing Selway's releases. Referring to Semblance Factor's Fact Finding Mission, the legendary Sven Vath remarked that [Selway] is making waves right now. I just played [his] new record and the crowd loved it. Selway has also gained critical acclaim for his new project with Abe Duque, entitled Rapture.
Indeed, John Selway is a name everyone will be hearing more of in the years to come.
In 2002, John's Remix for Vanguard's Queen-Cover 'Flash' which he did together with Christian Vogel has contributed heavily to the giant success of this club bomb. A new Remix for The Ones is already in the pipeline
