Laatste editie The Chaos Theory met DJ Rush in hoofdrol

Artist: invite

InviteModesty is a nice quality 25 year old Tim van Paradijs from Utrecht possesses, but it does not make writing a biography about DJ Invite, his alter ego behind the turntables, easier. When someone acts like any other normal person, is it still worth wile to read about him? Fortunately Invite masters enough other characteristics which make him a more than interesting DJ to follow.

Invite for instance is considerable versatile in his choice of records. There are but a few DJ’s who feel comfortable in so many area’s within Techno. He buys the best records in many different styles en this surely benefits his creativity. You can fit him in on the line-up at any moment of the evening and he can play at down-tempo parties as well as on events where the harder work is not avoided. That is proved well by his residencies on his own party Solid Grooves, a strong techno-concept that dominates the Utrecht scene for years now. But also on the harder Bass Traxx, organised by Solid Grooves as well, Invite plays the cracks in the wall. Versatility is besides his outstanding technical skills without saying his strongest point and the one thing that distinguishes him from other DJ’s.
Invite is inspired through the years by DJ’s who are masters in playing so called loop-techno. Think of James Ruskin, Steve Rachmad, Surgeon of The Advent. Concerning productions, Jeff Mills has to be added to this row as an example and Invite stills loves the old Detroit sound. As he has many sources of inspiration: Detroit, UK/Birmingham, the old Swedish and Japanese sound were very important for Invite. And besides Techno, he gets his inspiration from house, drum ‘n bass, music from the sixties, hiphop and ambient. But also impressions picked up in theatre, cinema’s or simply in conversations with people, he uses in DJ sets and in producing music.
Despite his enthusiasm Invite still has a long way to go. For almost 3 years he is near the top in the Netherlands and he has at least outgrown the status of talent. What lacks is the last step and producing is the key for that. Nevertheless, Invite thinks that a good DJ doesn’t have to assert himself in the studio also. And in that he’s right, because even if he does not have any big hit on his name, he has a very nice list of performances. From large elaborated events like TeQnology and In Qontrol to smaller parties for lovers like Planet Rose of Tomorrow, Invite feels at home. And when a DJ feels at home it brings out the best in him.
Nevertheless, even so he already has so much accomplished compared to other newcomers in the scene, Invite stays critical to himself. So he has set a goal for himself to grow even more in playing and to get himself more involved in producing. Just as making more contact with the audience and so creating a better atmosphere. The fact that he wants to achieve his own record label and a residence abroad shows the healthy ambition which is necessary to become a truly professional DJ. Concerning abroad, Invite already played in countries like Croatia, Slovenia, Czech republic, Estonia, Belgium, Austria and France. That residence is therefore closer by then you might think. It also looks good concerning producing. In a short while one of his productions will be released on the Underground Liberation label and at short notice Invite will start his own net-label for his own tracks and those of talented producers.
Enough plans that lie waiting to be realised and if Invite only succeeds in halve of them he is going to reach the top, you can bet your money on it.
