Quince is recognized as one of Holland's biggest talents in the techno scene. Since his first release in 2006 on Amsterdam's Delsin label, he impressed with his well produced, warm house sounds.
From October 22 to 25 our capitol is the stage for its annual Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) again. Beatfreax has created the ultimate online guide to keep you up to speed with the coolest parties and venues during the event.
Born (1986) and raised in The Hague (The Netherlands), music actually did not play any major role throughout most of Thomas Martojo's youth. As a teenager he first visited the bigger raves and festivals and only than experienced what the world of (electronic) music had to offer him.
Educated by Dutch techno jocks Steve Rachmad and Dimi Angelís, further influenced by Traxx (Chicago), Norm Talley, Mike Huckaby (Detroit), Surgeon and Rob Hall (UK), Thomas regards spinning records as to be old-fashioned craftsmanship. Versatility and an open mind are all what he is on about when it comes to music and he nourishes no ambition other than to explore the depths of quality music as a deejay. Strongly rooted in Detroit Deep House, Chicago Acid Jack and mid-nineties peak time Techno, but also known to just as easily fuse a wide variety of other styles including Dub, experimental Electronica, Future Jazz, Nu Wave, EBM, Disco, Afro Beat & Bossanova. By pending through these different genres, setting out a progressing - yet surprising - atmosphere in which the deepest depths are followed by build-up peaks back and forth, one can always count on his mixes to differ every single time. This obviously makes it fairly difficult to typify his mixes, although they can be characterized by distinct programming in which the selected records connect distant places within the electronic music spectrum creating a truly unique “story telling” experience.
Only time will tell where his unorthodox approach will lead him, one thing is certain though: still relatively young, Thomas Martojo has already shown a great deal of artistic potential.
