Finally I got it in the mail today!!!! It's just the CD so now 5.1 experience, but just like the previous DE9's I love it!!! Full review will be online soon.

friday oct 7th i had a chance to go to AES show in NYC at the javits center where hawtin did a "seminar" about the cd. ( as i said earlier )
some key points that he noted some of you may find interesting are
-he used over 500 songs to put together this album. -
someone in the audience asked if he had found a way to easily "warp"(www.ableton.com) entire tracks. he said "nope and that it was a real pain in the ass" anyone who uses ableton knows what he means.
-he obtained studio masters for 99% of tracks on cdunlike the previous cd which he said he spent more time de-clicking than anything.
-he recorded 70-80% of all volume, panning, effects and eq automation LIVE. he noted that he wanted to keep fades human where they needed to be exept for obvious parts like a section in the cd he describes as "one track moving and mixing from front to back as the next track is moving and mixing from back to front" that he had to 'draw' in by hand
-he said that the entire album is 128 bpm
(that was shocking to me especially after listening alot allready.)
-he mixed the album in 5.1 first then made a re-edited stereo version.
-he said "the 16 bit/44.1 stereo version is inferior to the 24 bit/96k 5.1 version but he is happy with it."
Now i havent listened to the 5.1 version yet. but i really have been enjoying this mix.
Im a big fan so my opinion is not objective whatsoever.
BUT i think its f&%king brilliant!
he even includes an mp3 of the 96 min version on the data portion of the dvd and in the jacket it says "....hope you will be kind enough to use it for your own personal use "

this is the review of the party with Lee Burridge and Richie Hawtin @ Spirit, New York, from another forum:
I liked Lee's set. You have to factor in that he couldn't exactly bang it out opening for Hawtin, who'd start off playing relatively minimal sort of stuff. Lee had to be mindful to leave the guy after him some room to blend in his set into the outgoing one. Quite honestly, I was rather disappointed with Hawtin's set overall though. Not necessarily because it was THAT bad, which it wasn't, but rather because of my expectations of him after hearing some of his other sets recorded this year.
For most of his set, Hawtin was rather uneven and lacked a decent flow or progression. He'd throw down a great track that would get the energy going only to follow up by (mis) tweaking the next one to the point where the energy would be completely sucked out of the people. Richie was also tossing in way too many anthems and overplayed tracks. It would have been nice to hear less of that and more new material. It almost seemed as if his heart wasn't into it 100% and he was just going through the motions, assuming we wouldn’t know any better cause NYC isn't know for a techno scene. Perhaps this had something to do with him not seeing as positive a reaction from the crowd as he wanted. I think part of the problem might have been that a good portion of patrons were either unfamiliar with Hawtin's sound or were more Burridge fans than of his. Many of these people just couldn't get into Hawtin's sound cause that's not what they were expecting or just flat out didn't care for it.
Many people were leaving prematurely, visibly emptying the place out as early as by 4am. However, with about an hour and a half to go, Hawtin must have looked down at the floor and saw that the dedicated fans were left, fists in the air and dancing up a storm. Richie suddenly cranked things up out of the stratosphere. It was almost as if it was a completely different set spun (technically, point and clicked) by a completely different DJ. He was dropping tracks that were altogether twisted, trippy and banging. Everyone who stuck it out till the end was handsomely rewarded for having faith in Hawtin or simply being too cracked out to be motivated enough to leave early. Coupled with the great group of peeps I was with and the overall perfect vibe, I had a blast despite ¾ of the night being lackluster in terms of music.

I share the opinion that the whole mix is f@$%*@ brilliant, the way i like my minimal. The best de9 yet..!!

I also listened to the new DE. It was a little bit a dissapointment for me because I thought it would sound even special as the Closer to the Edit. Nopez not special for me. Just the sound I hear almost every week in the club. The Closer to the Edit was a revolution, this new one is just a part of the revolution CTE created.

Could be because it's the stereo version, but it definately doesn't surprise me in a positive way. To be honest i'd say it's a tad on the boring side of things. But i'll give it another chance this week...

It was so shocking to me because 99% of dj mixes that are done on turntables, the tempo is always gonna fluctuate throughout the set a bit.
Im not surprised about the New York opinion on Hawtin, the album(s), or his style at all. The are people that do like him and do understand what it is Richie Hawtin is trying to accomplish and do show support. On the other hand it is only my opinion that people in this area that go out regularly to see the other big talent dont really understand 1.)techno(specificly) 2.)minimal techno 3.)technology and 4.) how much Richie Hawtin has done for all the above. Let alone his "experimental" style of playing that particular night at spirit. Although I must admit I did have to leave his set that night prematurely unfortunatly.
As far as the reviews of transitions from my stand point and at the risk of being redundant, I have only heard it 50 times or so in stereo (and i love it every min of it). I have YET to hear in 5.1 and Richie Hawtin himself said the stereo version was INFERIOR to the surround version. I believe him.
He was featured on the cover of this months DJ Times(usa)magazine, and was interviewed. Tryed to find it but doesnt seem to be around.

Heard the mix today..not the whole set.. and not in right order. but i do now.
really curious how it sounds in surround version.. what a sounds..
Great set.. have to listen it many more times.. !!
And i m sure i love it more and more.. (and those are the best sets to me!)

I received the Dvd Saturday! 96 minutes of pure pleasure! When i sit in the middle of my livingroom its like the hihats keep coming from my left, and the bass sticks in the middle!! Really really nicely done!!! On screen u can see wich tracks r being used, but in such a way; that when hawtin fades in, or out a track the track name and composer fade in or off screen! great!

Just listening the dvd for the first time in 5.1 sound. The only thing I can say is phat. Hihats are flying through my chamber. Wow, so much better than the cd Bichie delivered with the dvd.

I listened to the dvd and I LOVE it.
He’s a genius… Imagine all the work that is behind…
He’s always surprising me, and I have much respect for him because he’s always moving forward, trying to do something new.
I'm not sure I would dance a lot on that kind of sound in a club, but to listen it’s just perfect…
