Gaspard Augé (27) en Xavier de Rosnay (24) vormen de Franse band Justice. Sinds hun naamloze debuutalbum in 2007 worden ze gekatapulteerd tot rocksterren en zijn ze in rap tempo de wereld aan het veroveren met hun overweldigende sound en kenmerkende optredens met een enorm verlicht kruis.
After his summer smash hit "Napolitanzer" together with Fokko Versloot it was time for Beatfreax to ask him to do a mix for our podcast. And here it is! An awesome mix with tracks by e.g. Nils Number, Dimitri Andreas, Lopazz and of course the man himself.
Weer een beetje bijgekomen van alle hossel rondom de feestdagen? Mooi, maak je borst(en) dan maar nat! Voidd komt namelijk op zaterdag 10 januari al met een voornemen waar je nieuwe agenda niet snel genoeg kennis mee kan maken.
Op vrijdag 9 januari 2009 geeft Franse Techno godfather Laurent Garnier één van de laatste dj-sets uit zijn carrière weg. Het feestje gaat door in de befaamde Antwerpse club Café d'Anvers, die dit jaar trouwens al 20 jaar bestaat.
Well, well, well…how can two editions in the same location be so different?
On friday I’ve had a lovely evening, but the Saturday was truly an amazing night!
Didn’t see the newbie Piet van Dongen play as opener, because of some tiredness of the day before I went a little later. Coming in again hearing Magda play some deeper minimal than I’m used to hear from her and that was something very nice.
Again there were a lot of same faces recognisable in there best party outfit; but something says they weren’t there for the music, if you know what I mean!
The first live act was a personal favourite of the organisation; Der dritte Raum from Germany came to Amsterdam again and had 45 minutes again to guide the crowd through their special journey. Within that journey they asked for some: “Fire! Fire! Fire!” and again the guys from the productions of Monumental decided to give them the satisfaction of all fire spitting wall features! An amazing view at the back of the room rise and a atmosphere was created for a well driven techno night.
Something that was remarkable was that people went crazy and I saw a lot of hands in the air, people shouting, whistling en clapping there hands due to the show in combination with DDR’s live set; it was really stunning.
After this treatment the roof went off with two guys from Italy; Markantonio and Rino Ceronne came for some napoli techno and really made me and a lot of other people dance there socks off, after all the deepness and sparkling energetic pulses of the first artists the real techno began and the tone was been set! I think this asks for an Italian night?
From Canada dj Preach came also for his second time at the Gasholder; a dj with a very energetic way of mixing, too bad, that for me, it was more simplistic than the two fellows before him did. There was no deepness anymore; I’ve enjoyed it, but I missed something in it.
It was the Advent that didn’t miss anything and the second live set of this night was therefore a stunning way to say: “Hello! I’m back again!” Cisco Ferreira to me is one of the great ones being some sort of must have in the Gasholder. A lot of dark and creepy noises in combination with probably one or two breaks to much, but ok, it made me think I was a few years back in time.
Somebody that also is a great artist and somebody I really like to see at this location is Surgeon. This time together with Regis, both they are the British Murder Boys and I was really looking forward to their set. In the beginning I didn’t know how to get into there vibe, but when they went deeper and deeper the time flew and there last hour was really chaotic! Normally you would think chaotic isn’t a positive word, but in this contrast it is! Chaotic sounds in techno music makes me smile, jump and wanting more. The Gasholder is a wonderful location for the freaks of electronic music and the BMB gave us a set of chaos with a structure!

Hij was echt fenomenaal! Ik kwam binnen tijdens Magda, heb er niet al te veel van meegekregen maar dat klonk wel oké... beetje rommelig had ik het idee. Heb erg genoten van Der Dritte Raum, supervet.En toen kwamen Cerrone en Antonio... ennuh... amai!
Wat een geweld! Lekker van-dik-hout-zaagt-men-planken-techno, met hier en daar een slordige overgang, maar ach... who cares....!
Die hele ton ging ondersteboven, springen, joelen.. yeah! Geweldig sfeertje. Preach deed het daarna ook prima, ik dacht dat die wat rustiger aan zou doen maar dat viel erg mee. Held vd avond was voor mij The Advent, set was voorbij voor ik er erg in had en de BMB sloten in stijl af. 'Dieptebommen' is geloof ik de correcte term.
Dus vanaf die Italianen is de muziek niet meer uit de zesde versnelling geweest en dat was écht een verademing met voorgaande zaterdagedities die naar mijn smaak altijd pas heel laat op gang kwamen.
Ja wat moet ik er van zeggen, sinds 2 jaar weer een keer naar awakenings indoor...
Bij binnenkomst was het al gekkenwerk en echt rammen met de pet op, vanaf 3 uur was het helemaal stoomlocomotieven techno, reng keng keng...
Sorry maar dat ouderwetse techno geweld is niet meer aan mij besteed. Een goeie techno set kan er zeker in maar pfff wat een lomp geweld!
Waren met een leuke groep dus wat dat betreft heb ik me erg goed vermaakt. Om 6uur was de pijp leeg, voorlopig geen awake meer (behalve het festival dan)..
ook maar eens een verlate reactie. Ben het deels met je eens, vond Magda echter niet in het totaalplaatje passen. Set was best aardig met genoeg afwisseling er in maar kben er nu toch echt uit: keine minimal in de Gas, ook al deed ze nog zo haar best een krachtige set neer te zetten...
Der Dritte Raum voor mij verreweg de beste set van de avond maar inderdaad, veel te kort!! Jammer! Bij Cerrone schrok ik me kapot, Cerrone alleen jaar of 4 geleden bij Mind_form in Waakzaamheid ofzo gehoord en vond ik een heerlijke treintechno-set, dit was toch echt ff paar BPM teveel (wordt waarschijnlijk gewoon oud )
Verder Preach en Advent not my cup off tea en Surgeon moet in zijn eentje weer een keer de gas op zijn kop zetten, daar kijk ik al jaren naar uit!! Over gassound gesproken... BMB heeft voor mij weinig speciaals. Maar buiten dit gezeik allemaal was het zeker mooie nacht, weer nergens rijen gezien en de visuals ed waren zeer mooi. Ook sfeer was ok!
