After his summer smash hit "Napolitanzer" together with Fokko Versloot it was time for Beatfreax to ask him to do a mix for our podcast. And here it is! An awesome mix with tracks by e.g. Nils Number, Dimitri Andreas, Lopazz and of course the man himself.
Paradiso, when are you gonna learn? At 22.30 there was already a queue outside and the front doors were still closed… Why not open 30 minutes earlier? Anyway, Bart did an excellent job.: Beautifully layered tracks that kept my attention. The question arose: when will we see Bart closing an evening in Paradiso himself? Troy Pierce made good use of his Cycloops (loopsampler) and got the crowd going. Too bad this means little more than nodding your head and lifting your knees ever so slightly into the air. Perhaps it was the contrast between day one and day two that makes me feel this (Remember; stagediving and pogo-ing…). It could be that for a minimal party this was wild but I thought it was all rather tame.
In the upstairs room Kostas was playing a trancy melodic set in preparation for Kaito. This guy’s music makes me feel as if I’m floating on an airbed in a warm ocean. Nice when you are on vacation and actually floating on an airbed, but not so much in the upstairs room of Paradiso. So I went back into the main room which was now absolutely packed! I guess minimal still hasn’t lost its mainstream appeal. It was just too busy for me so I went upstairs again, talked a little and while listening to Heartthrob (no surprises musically…) from the balcony I decided it was time to leave. The alarmclock knows no mercy and mine was set at 7.00. Besides there’s still a day 3 to come…
I just read Gui Boratto played a rather boring live set??? I've only heard him once, but judging from that performance I can hardly imagine.... what's your experience??
