Report

Words by: lieke
I had been looking forward to this evening all week. I had some high expectations of mister Kalkbrenner and I was very curious about his live set. Add this to the fact that it was at my favourite venue, Doornroosje. This means nice people, nice staff and a lot of friends. The combination of fine music and fine surroundings usually makes for a great night.

When we arrived the queue outside was promising a crowded night, maybe it would even sell out. Once inside, we went to the small room where we heard some nice minimal sounds. After a while we went to see K Cee, who really surprised me this time with a decent and nice set, that fitted the time of the night. Last time I saw him in the small room I couldn't figure out what he was doing, but now, it sounded swell.

Then it was time for Mr Kalkbrenner! As I mentioned before, I had high expectations. I had heard so many people super
enthusiastic about this man, that I was expecting something really special. Maybe this was wrong, because it was a nice live set, but not super suprising or really warm. I enjoyed myself during the set, but I expected something different, maybe something warmer and more melodic. The crowd was loving it though, the dancefloor was packed and I heard a lot of screaming. I liked his stage presentation a lot though. Smiling, dancing and having a great time himself really made me enjoy the performance more.

Randoman vs. Monokreck was nice! Pumping beats and warm records. It made me dance! The little room always has this special intimite atmosphere. I like it there, although the temperature usually isn't really pleasant at all. Did anybody see there was a new floor there though?

Time for Heiko Laux. I have seen this man a lot of times and I have come to think that he isn't all that reliable. I have heard him play sets that blew my mind and I have heard sets that were nothing but boring and flat. Tonight it proved to be the latter, and there was little variation in the records. I call this 'loopjestechno'. A familiar sound from a few years ago maybe, but it hasn't got my interest. I like it when I see that a DJ is having fun. Smiling at the audience, interacting, you know: having charm! Heiko lacked it this night.

I didn't enter the small room any more, because the sounds coming from there at the end, were way to hard for
me.

It was another nice, cozy and fun night at Doornroosje. For me, it is definitely the 'nachttempel' of Holland. The night ended with a nice 'volksbuurt' after. Hard music and a lot of crazy happenings. Perfect!

Respect to all of you who made this party! Great music, great sets and a wonderful atmosphere. I even didn't visit one of the pubs or the small room.

Since december I was there 4 times after a break of about a year (and joining Planet Rose since early mid 90's) and it's really like it was years before. Keep the spirit alive!

Great night! K.Cee was definitely the best of the night in my opinion. Didn't like Kalkbrenner too much, maybe due to too high expectations? Never heared him before but i heared a lot of people being very enthousiastic about Kalkbrenner. In the end it was a nice set to me, but not all that special. Heiko Laux finished the night well with a set filled with solid tracks. Heard him better before, but he was ok. All together with the atmosphere, the people and the music it was a great night!

Totally agree....Kalkbrenner was solid and o.k., but it was no "B-Pitch control camping Tour"

About Kees, the yelling, screaming and applaus when he finished his set were absolutely clear!

I liked Laux's set also, although it wasn't not that special to me.

Well Pepijn you hit the spot exactly where i see it too! The atmosphere was unbeatable superb and i'm not exeggarating here at all. Personnaly one of the finest evenings in Doornroosje i've been to up untill now!

I have 3 or 4 livesets on my computer by Kalkbrenner, so i already knew precisely what to expect, and I wanst suprised. I really love his sound so it was not bad to hear it on full strenght for a change, but a bit more suprising could have made it just a little bit better..

In contrary to Kalkbrenner, I didnt have a single clue what to expect of Heiko Laux. I deliberately didnt listen to any sets on 3voor12 by him (which i normally do when going to a dj which i've never heard before) because that inevitably affects your opinion about the set (for the logical fact that listening to a set at home is so much different from how this set would 'feel' in a club)

and in short: It felt Awesome! Crowd cheering, whisteling, dancing, moving and that all his set long made the vibe just so great that it didnt even matter what he did, as long as his records kept rumbling on like they were (like hell! they were!!)

Because i only entered at 1.30 due to a long queue at the entrance i wasnt able to listen to the other dj's with as much attention as i did with the headliners i will restrain myself from putting even more energy in this report when it won't add anything usefull

I am, though, very interested how the back room was? I hope as good as i enjoyed the main because that would make this party even more Godlike than i already tried to decribe

And if u still think Doornroosje doesn't deserve the Nachttempel.nl award then u obviously still have to visit Roosje for the first time..

Definitely the best Tomorrow edition so far with a superb resident. How I would love to see K.Cee play the Gashouder some day...! He would tear that place down given the proper time to do it...

Further nothing but compliments to venue, artists and the crowd for sure. It has been a long time since I experienced a vibe like this... icon_worship.gif

Next week Darko and I will pick a new date for another Tomorrow edition with a line-up just as interesting as this one... icon_cool.gif

I as well had a great time at roosje.
enjoyed the last minutes of invite, had a blast during kalkbrenner and de part of the set heiko laux played i could check until my fellow-partypeople asked me if i could drive them back home. A shame i couldn't hear my german hero a little longer, cause he choose not to go on the 'tribal'-tour like the last time i heard him. I was very pleased with this.

K.Cee personally wasn't that great to me. I clearly heard what he was up to and what he wanted to achieve, but it just didn't get me.
But it was great to see how the crowd reacted to him. Al respect for him.

i had a great time and can't wait for another party in roosje!icon_drink.gif

What a night... icon_mrgreen.gif
Great sounds all over: nice intro by Invite, loved Kalkbrenners live set, K.Cee was in topcondition and Heiko finished things smoothly in the main. In the back the 'headliners' Kreck vs Rando was good, rocking and hilarious at the same time and I heard great tunes and mixing during Tribezz' and Ven's sets. The crowd was as enthousiastic as it can be in Roosje, so the night couldn't really go wrong icon_whistle.gif

i have been in the back room most of the time, so i can share some about that

tribezz did a nice warm up job, heard some really cool techno, and a rather sweet mixjob with lfo's loop

randoman and monokreck created a really nice vibe, their cooperation went surprisingly well. i have been recording that set on mono's request so i hope he'll put it online for your enjoyment

ven played techno. and he did a great job. i had a double whisky too much and i danced like a madman. that loopy techno stuff ain't bad at all...

maybe someone can give me contactinfo for ven, i tried to reach him through the trinity website but their contact script seems to send the message to me instead of them. would be nice if his set appeared online somewhere as well.

What a night... what a comments... what a pictures..

It was a great night indeed! The atmosphere was totally ok en good and happy.

The music was great, and all the artist where doing their thing with a big smile on their face, whick made the crowd even more enjoy it which made the smiles on the faces even bigger icon_clap.gif

Time for some funky dance-moves, time for a bit 'beuken' at the dance-floor, good mix.

Cool that Monokreck and Randomen never did a b2b, or even better: never met each other before. They were a very good combo!

And always nice to hear and see Heiko ofcourse icon_mrgreen.gif

It was a supernight!!

K.Cee was my man of the evening... a lot of records you don't hear a lot, but always good to hear them back... For me kalkbrenner can't hold up the expectations everybody seems to have about him... Just too easy... Same for Heiko Heiko... Good records, but no surprise at all...
haven't been at the backroom so no opinion about that...
and the crowd?? I had a completely different experience then the comments here are showing.... For those people who did go crazy; why go crazy on a bleep and a sound which brings completely nothing... not in the line of the evening particular and not in the musicworld in general....
and then the other part of the public; didn't you have a good evening?!?!?

But hey, I'll stop saying bad things, because with the majority of the public I had a laugh and they made my evening eventually okay... perhaps you've got a different experience when you're working... I don't know, but we'll see with tanzmann and eulberg
