He’s the bad boy of the Amsterdam techno underground: Daniel Sanchez, 26 year old son of a Spanish father and a Dutch mother, who scored one of the biggest hits of the summer of 2007 with the infectious ‘Mumbling yeah’. Daniel’s ‘mumbling’ vocals give the track that special edge.
Het komt er langzaam maar zeker weer aan: de strandfeesten! Zon, zee, strand, drankjes en veel, heel veel feesten op alle strandlocaties over heel Nederland.

Holland's most well known techno DJ and producer Michel de Hey delivers a nice doubler showing his "2 Faces"; one more minimalistic and one being more the Michel we used to know.

The first CD opens with one the biggest recent minimal hits James Holden’s remix of Nathan Fake’s “The Sky was Pink”. Really one to grab the attention and great choice to open with. No minimal DJ can seem to go without at least one John Tejada track in his set nowadays, and also Michel wisely chooses “Mono on Mono” for this mix. As if Secret Cinema’s music isn’t good enough already, Joris Voorn creates an even cooler remix of “See myself”. Other highlights are Kotter’s “Welcome back” (Mayer Thomas remix) – try picturing this through over 100 decibels – Lopazz’ “Blood” in the Tiefschwarz remake (one of my personal favourites really!), Trentemoller’s “Beta Boy”, the new boy-wonder Alex Smoke’s “Chica Wappa”, Alexander Kowalski’s interpretation of Dave Gahan’s “Hidden Houses” (awesome!), Rex the Dog (catchy as hell) and one of my favourite producers Aril Brikha closing this really good first CD. Great stuff! Never heard Michel play like this though, CD2 is more what I mark to by the “de Hey sound”.
CD2 kicks of with a track that’s already very good by itself, but Thin White Duke’s remix of Fischerspooner’s “Just Let Go” really adds a creepy feel to it all. After that Gabriel Ananda’s “Heizkissen” really fires up the place. This man is really one of the front men of the developing German sound in my opinion, pumping, deep, funky, terrific!
To be honest the rest of the CD is not really outstanding, the tracks seem to wobble along in that typical de Hey style. No disrespect to Michel, but it just doesn’t give me energy. Maybe I’m a little prejudice anyway, I think a techno orientated cd or album should be more aimed to listen to than to dance to, since you’ll probably play it at home or in the car anyway.
All in all an OK album, but mainly due to the first CD. A side of Michel which surely I haven’t seen at parties so far, might be worth checking him out again some time soon.
