Getting most of their fame when “Emerge” was released in 2002, we’ve not heard a lot of them since then. Seems like the guys have been working quite hard in the studio to come up with a brand new album, even better and more mature than their debut album “#1”.
The new wave/electro-pop troupe Fischerspooner was formed in New York City in 1998 and has come to incorporate multimedia, strange handmade costumes, dancing, and performance art. Originally a duo formed by classically trained musician Warren Fischer and video-artist and experimental theatre performer Casey Spooner, the group grew to over 20 performers, mostly dancers and guest vocalists.

You really have to listen to Odyssey a few times to get the feeling, but it gets better every time you put it on. The opener “Just Let Go” is probably one of the best and most typical tracks of the whole album, you’ll recognize the “Emerge-sound” from the first tones.
Most of the tracks have this eighties feeling about them, but don’t get dull in any way. Tracks like Cloud, Never Win, We Need a War are so utterly catchy you’ll be singing them for days and days
An then there’s tracks like “A kick in the teeth” and “All we Are” which just give me goose bumps, absolutely exquisite tracks, melodic, emotional, beautiful! The up-tempo “Happy” show that Fischerspooner is without a doubt unique in it’s kind, I really can’t name one band sharing this type of music, and doing such a fine job.
When I received this CD basically the only track I really knew of Fischerspooner (like many probably) was “Emerge”, but had forgotten about them since. This album hit me in the face though! I take a deep bow for these Yanks, and will play Odessey for a long time probably.
