He’s the bad boy of the Amsterdam techno underground: Daniel Sanchez, 26 year old son of a Spanish father and a Dutch mother, who scored one of the biggest hits of the summer of 2007 with the infectious ‘Mumbling yeah’. Daniel’s ‘mumbling’ vocals give the track that special edge.
Tegenstellingen leiden tot de mooiste dingen, zo blijkt ook uit de samenwerking tussen disco-housemeester Hans-Peter Lindstrøm en zangeres Christabelle Sandoo, voorheen bekend als Solale.
Yep, yep, yep another Gaiser album out on M_nus after a long silence from this techno maniac. BLANK FADE includes 13(!) tracks and a one hour mix of all the productions on this release.
Most of us probably know Gaiser and hence you would quite easily recognize his sound. This is not necessarily a bad thing; although one may get bored after listening to a couple of tracks that to a great extend are very similar. Nevertheless, there are some awesome tunes to be found on this album. Best of all may very well be ‘Ciliate With’, as this one just simply does the trick; Killer bass line, terrific percussion lines and very cool effects throughout the whole production. The build-up is great and when the old school snare drops in, you’d wish the track never ended, or at least will go on for a couple of minutes longer.
Another one worth mentioning is ‘Substance B’. Very raw minimal with a typical Gaiser, somewhat dark atmosphere. It becomes more and more obvious that Jon must possess top class studio equipment or he would have never gotten this sound so well balanced!
Last tune that certainly stands out is ‘Leave it’, as this one has more of a story to tell rather than just being a raw techno tune. The sounds and melody lines merge perfectly into a very obscure and industrial theme.
Basically all the tracks on this album are ‘good’. Some of them definitely stand out such as the ones described above and some lack a bit of originality. Nevertheless, the production quality is certainly one to be respected and this album is therefore very recommendable.
