Finaly a techno release that is more than just a usual release. Back to Detroit with these two awesome records by DJ Bone.
Once in a while a release pops up that really blows everything else away. Not because it just sounds nice or because of the name on the release or because of it being a potential hit, but because of its quality and its purity. This time such a releases is by DJ Bone from Detroit, consisting of two coloured records called 'Longtivity EP 1' and 'Longtivity EP 2'. Released on DJ Bone's own label Subject Detroit.
This is techno that has Detroit written all over it, while listening to both the records I was blown away by almost every track. From the beginning till the end of any of the records you are held on tight and the mind doesn't wonder of to anything else but the feeling that these tracks give you. These two records really have it all, power, strength, heart and soul.
The records are pretty different from on another, but yet have this particular sound to them. On one hand you have the more persisting tracks like 'Knowhere' and somewhat tribal track called 'It's Over', both released on Longetivity EP 1. 'Its's Over' is an awesome track that is progressing from the beginning till the end, which gives this track its own quality in some powerfull way. Where 'It's Over' appears to be a powerfull track, this is pretty much the opposite from 'Knowhere' which appears to be a more emotional track that just keeps going on and on (this in a positive way ofcourse).
On the other hand you have the some more raw tribal track called 'The Ritual' (released on Longetivity EP 2). This track exists of a low raw synthline running through it accompanied by short strings with the support of vocals, which really fits well. The other track on Longetivity EP 2, is called 'Ahnne Smiled'. Although this is my least favourite amongst all four tracks I still find it to be an interesting track, because it is constantly evolving and doesn't stop to do so till it's finished.
These records can be played in pretty much all kinds of sets, weather it's techno, house or minimal, they will fit in pretty well. So to all the freax, check this out, because it is definetly worth it.
