Quince is recognized as one of Holland's biggest talents in the techno scene. Since his first release in 2006 on Amsterdam's Delsin label, he impressed with his well produced, warm house sounds.
From October 22 to 25 our capitol is the stage for its annual Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) again. Beatfreax has created the ultimate online guide to keep you up to speed with the coolest parties and venues during the event.
Far away in the Unknown Territories still not discovered by the Evil Eye of the Kingdom of Greed, a few men are building an Ark to save the few fools left on earth from corporate evil...
The Fool's Ark is a 15m long wooden fantasyvessel shipt from Amsterdam to the Nevada dessert to be burnt at the Burning Man Festival.
This project of Dutch artist Dadara has been filmed from beginning to end by Jesse Limmen, who also is responsible for the awesome animations. What began as a documentary ended up a as fantasy movie, a visual spectacle supported by the superb music of Lamb's Andy Barlow new project The Hipoptimist.
Being a big fan of Dadara's art ever since I first saw his flyers and artwork for Outland Records, I was very eager to see this movie. To be honest; the images get even more impressive as animation is added. Greyman comes alive, fish splash from the screen, little creatures moving everywhere.
I’ve always been fascinated by Dadara’s view of the world and The Fool’s ark says it all. It’s fun to watch, the music is extremely well-chosen and beautifully composed by Andy Barlow. Makes you wonder why visuals are so underrated at parties, and if there are visuals most of them don’t really add something to the party or music.
Amongst the extra features are 2 still-slideshows of the making of the movie. Actually the vibe created during these slideshows even appeal to me more than the movie itself; surrealistic and dreamy.
All in all a must-have for everyone who like’s Dadara’s art or would like to see something different. Play this at a party or just sit back and let the Fool’s Ark guide you.
