Playhouse
Based in: Germany
Info: Playhouse was founded in 1993 as a sisterlabel of Klang Elektronik. Both are sublabels of their parent label Ongaku Musik.
Founders, and still the owners, are Frankfurt based DJ's Ata and Heiko Schäfer in cooperation with Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke (both better known as Alter Ego, Acid Jesus or Sensorama).
Originally considered as an alternative to Klang Elektronik for releasing the tracks who were in a classical way more house-accorded, Playhouse developed itself very fast to a very independent label, that cultivates a completely characteristic, extremely modern and futuristic style by mixing the very simple and elementary qualities of so-called classic 'Old School House' with fresh and never before listened 'science-fiction-sounds' and structures.
