Monokreck describes his style as "open minded house, from glitchy microhouse to deep techno, and all in between". Melting many styles of electronic music together to create a warm atmosphere on the dancefloor.
The MS Stubnitz from Rostock Germany mores at the quays of the former NDSM ship yard again and has a lot of different parties on it, mostly techno and electro. At the beginning of this month there was a “rave weekend after with Karotte”, last weekend there was a electronation edition and next week there is going to be an edition of Rockit with names like; Krause duo and Ken Ishi.
This time it was a special Voltt edition, why? Because there was no line-up announced in front and the whole party was sold out before somebody knew who was playing yesterday.
The MS Stubnitz is a former fishing trawler of 80 meters long and offers a chance to cultural organisations, arts initiatives and artists to develop and present their work. One of the main goals of the MS Stubnitz is to conduct research within cultural and subcultural circuits and to document this.
The only thing people did know for sure is that Bart Skils, the man behind Voltt was playing at this party, he had a solid opening of the night. I was a little amazed about the location, so I did not see very much of Bart his set, walked around a bit and enjoyed the place.
The atmosphere was great, the NDSM shipyard, together with the Stubnitz and the Voltt freaks was giving away a very good vibe.
Someone who also achieved that was Jerome, he did a great live set after Bart and really made a fine electronically journey over sea, to stay within the atmosphere. ;-)
A lot of deep sounds, mixed with a finesse feeling for the mid tones, the way I like Jerome at his best!
Having the next act at second place in my awakenings wish list just says enough that I was very glad “Voltt” had booked this man!
From France; John Thomas had come to put Voltt @ a higher level.
John was mixing with three turntables and has a unique way of spinning, last couple of years he is also a bit more into the minimal, but his set was a mixture of minimal together with a lot of funky ass techno. Great to have seen this man perform over here at Holland. He enjoys being here, because he likes the vibe and atmosphere a lot he told me. At the end of his set he played a part of an Eminem record and I was really stunned. He simple had the guts for it!
Hoping this man will rock the Westergasfabriek one day!
After the set of John Thomas, Bart was finishing this Voltt night, this time he could go a little bit more up tempo than in the beginning off course, after 15 minutes I went away, not because I didn’t like Bart, but I also went to GZG at the NDSM pickup, really loved this whole Voltt night, the only thing I didn’t like was the coin system for the drinks, it felt a bit like Germany, but than again, this ship comes from Germany….. :D
Had a blast @ Voltt! Too bad my camera broke down a weekend ago, that's why I would only write a report this time. Eventually I've got my first digital camera taken underneath a lot of dust and just shot a few pictures, just so you can grab some bit of an impression.
It's not much, (it has as much megapixels as my telephone) but everything is mooi meegenomen, if I say so...
Je moet je leven niet dromen, je moet je dromen leven!!!
Just out of my sleep. Very very nice Voltt this time. A techno night like 4 years ago.
Enjoyed myself with John Thomas and Hemann. Especially John Thomas, very nice records. The mixing was not good at every moment, but his records were good. Just old techno. Danced all night and had a cheap evening with collecting cups.
But still with a bad taste of Rostocker Beer in my mouth.
Thnx to all the nice people for making this night.
It was so much fun! John Thomas was my favourite, danced my ass off at his records!
I stayed downstairs most of the time because in the big room upstairs it was too hot...
I just had a great night
