Monokreck describes his style as "open minded house, from glitchy microhouse to deep techno, and all in between". Melting many styles of electronic music together to create a warm atmosphere on the dancefloor.
Once again last Saturday Outland was the playground for the second Integrate event of this year. This time the main room was based on funky techno and the basement on the harder forms of techno.
When we got at Outland around 0.15 a.m., there were no queues at all at the door (nice!). When we entered the venue, hard and fast techno (it sounded more like hardcore or gabber then like techno) was coming towards us from the basement, wich you had to pass to get to the main floor.
Slowly the main room was filling up with party-people under the sounds of Remy, who was building up the party properly with good catchy tunes. Around 2.00 a.m it was time for Kevin Saunderson. His set was mixed playful, but sometimes getting a bit messy. There wasn't a really good line in his set (it was going a bit up and down from good, heavy tunes to horrible 'carnival'-tunes) and he was playing big parts of his set too fast. From the upper ring there was an nice view on the dance floor and the dj, surrounded by lasers.
When we wanted to go to the dome at the top of the building to hear the minimal sounds of rising star Cupatec, we found out that the organisation decided not to open the dome, because the main room was just full enough and the basement was almost empty. The basement seemed to fill up a bit more during the night though. The sounds over there was still pretty hard and fast, but it sounded more like techno than in the beginning of the night. Some well known techno tunes were played on maximum speed. According to me too fast for dancing and the beauty of this tracks were getting lost in the speed.
At 4.00 a.m. Mistress Babara took over in the main room. It was a bit disappointing that she played a minimal techno set instead of the harder uplifting sets we are used to get from her. Her set and the tunes were very nice though, but not for closing up in the main room at that time of the night. During her set people started to leave slowly and so did we around 5.15.
This venue seems to have no big future for (techno) events, because it's so huge and therefore it's so hard to get it sold out. Nevertheless it was a pleasant night with a good mixture of male-female and a nice and relaxed atmosphere.
