Posts: 26 Events: 0 | | Posted: 05-07-2006 03:24:35 | | | I disagree wholeheartedly with Lieven. It was my third visit to the festival (and fourth if you also count Lovefamilycastle) and this was by far the best edition in my humble opinion.
On the musical side of things: Anthony Rother temporaily restored my belief in electronic music, Richie & Ricardo were as shitty and uninspired (bitches love my locks and dj glory so why even bother mixing?) as of late, Luciano sported a hella sexy moustache and some suave records to boot and Tiefschwartz managed to make me shake my hips for a whopping 33 minutes.
But as ever, it wasn't so much about the musical side of things. It was about the scorching sun (hmmm! make that 33 degrees celsius next year), the beachball, the copious amounts of free drugs you receive from semi-strangers and the cuddly way we all idly lay around. And on these aspects this edition delivered.

Second I fully agree with you regarding the music, vibe and weather. Our "Dutch Camp" rocked, Karotte climmed a few places in my favourite-dj-list, Luciano surprised me with some GREAT music, Rother ROCKED even more than EVER and Sven.... well, clown Sven is clearly at his best ín Germany in front of his own audience, I truly had a blast!
Hearing Luciano though - and Ricardo the day before - I get the feeling these branded "minimal DJ's" are picking up the pace, where as Hawtin even dropped it a few notches.

Same as Ruben I liked the clowns act of Sven en the set of Rother....but I really loved Luciano's set! That was musically my highlight of LFP. What a moments...

vroeger was alles beter en why do we have to be so "denigrerend" naar de first time PF lfp'rs?
please.....

| has nothing to do with "denigerend"and the fact that they are pf-ers, just the fact that for a lot of them it was the first time (and when something is new it's always great) so you see a lot of very good reviews on their forum.

Never left the mainstage for to long, really enjoyed Vath. Everybody knows, that when he is playing all day long, he gets "a bit" crazy. I personaly don't mind, lauched my ass off watching him jump around. The first part of his set was amazing, refreshing records and great mixing skills. After Rother this all got a bit less great, but who cares, knew that this was going to hapen.
Anybody familiar with the soundsystem? Cristal clear and very powerfull! Typical German style, it totaly gets you when dancing, but no problem having a conversation in front of the stage.

Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was Mayer, but something was missing for me the entire day. The music wasn´t really good. Luciano was very nice, and Tiefschwarz had some nice (last) records. Other then that I can hardly think of anything really rocking. Karotte can do better and R2R was really disappointing. Sven... i like dj´s who are sort of animator as well, but a clown belongs in a circus! He crossed that (sometimes very small) border.
ah well, had a very nice day and that what it is al about. But maybe, next year, i´ll look for something else, something smaller....

I think there are very few Dutch people who have been partying in Germany more often than me. First time was Mayday 1992 in Berlin amd since then I'm addicted to the spirit, gude Laune, music, sound systems in Germany. And for sure...."vroeger was alles beter" is not the truth. Maybe it was new and more special, but quality improved over the years and we became more spoiled, more bored and more critical. For me it was one of the best LFP's and I visited LFP and LFC also about 7 times now. I liked Sven and if you don't like it don't go.
There's one thing I don't understand, because LFP was exactly the same size as last year. Yes, it was a little more crowded but for me it was never too crowded. Robert Johnson was really great when the sun came up again (immediately back to our hotel to pick up sunglasses). The first hours "beetje door moeten bijten".....
I'll be back!

Posts: 560 Events: 3 | | Posted: 14-07-2006 21:06:55 | | | well i think i just didnt have my day here either..The music was okay, but i heard better from all of them (okay maybe except tiefschwarz) . Sven is in my opinion better to be heard at BlauerSee and Karotte was too much out of his head by partying all day and night in our lil country (played at Awake as you all know, and went to afters there, didnt sleep, which you could easily tell by his face) which reflected on his set.
Especially the first couple of hours i couldnt really find my place, and the biggest reason for that was the temperature. 30+ degrees with a burning sun and hardly any shadow places (at least no free shadow places) just isnt for me. I'm more of a lower temperature partying kind of guy, where i dont need a towel to whipe my face off every 30 seconds. Of course this isnt the fault of the festival, but it did affect my feeling of the day.
Fortunately around 7 i found the nice beatfreax spot, at last some shadow and nice lying around which got me going at last! So the last hours made my day after all, credits go to Jensen and Hekti for keeping me there instead of going home with the others at 6
