For the second time during the Amsterdam Dance Event, 11 was the host for Static. In the past, these night were held in the renowned Mazzo. Today, Static celebrates it's comeback in the wonderful Club 11 which is stationed near Amsterdam Central Station and gives a magnificent view across Amsterdam as well as the river 'IJ'.
Since 11 opened his doors, much effort has been put in creating a good image. Good parties and great live acts are scheduled on the line-ups while the bouncers keep a strict access policy for anyone to enter their domain. Although Bart Skils was not scheduled on the previous Static, the acclaimed national DJ made his appearance within the rest of the scheduled minimal DJ's and acts and almost made you feel like you were in the wonderful Weekend Club in Berlin.
Jonathan Traffic, which surprised me with his live set - and who has been signed to Underline Records which is the label of Troy Pierce - showed he should be taken seriously and makes you wonder how long it will take before he’s scheduled for Bart Skils VOLTT. Bart Skils played a very good set which didn't disappoint me, as we can expect from him. Though you think you know his style, it always sounds new and fresh.
We were also introduced to a group consisting of 3 people, including a female singer, who call themselves 'Rework'. Rework played uplifting minimal-sounds which makes you want to get on the dance floor. It was this point that made the people dance instead of talking, which surely enhanced the atmosphere. The last one to climb behind the decks was DJ Ata. The owner of the 'Playhouse' label is usually known for his 'gay-style' minimal-house sets. But because he was scheduled after Rework, we were treated with a much more deeper set than usual.
The overall atmosphere was a bit stiff in the beginning. The usual chatter on the dance floor occupied Static which always disappoints. Even the 'Bokbeer' festival held in the 'Beurs of Berlage' last friday went completely through the roof. Combine these two nights, and you have one of the best nights you ever had!
All in all a very successful night. The addition of daylight-savings made the evening even more successful since the party lasted one hour longer than usual. Be sure to check out the next Static, featuring Kompakt dj Michael Mayer!
What party were you at??
The "Rauw" type of Liveset was the saddest part of the whole night!!! To me and many of them around me.
Furthermore mr Robert Johnson could play up to the night I had in his club either.. a bit lousy progressive, with to many breaks / slower parts.
Musically not a fraction of the previous Static in my opinion...
I completely agree with Acqua. Everybody I talked to thought the liveset from Rework sucked bigtime. God that awful screaming woman annoyed me to the max.
They even scared away 15% of the crowed.
MAn of the night was I though Jonathan Traffic with a great liveset, followed by Bart skills.
Ata dissapointed me a bit, it sounded more like an afterparty set. He couldn't catch the crowd and played a bit too slow and deep. Wish Skills had finished the night!
About Rework, I saw them in Berlin in February at the WMF... They were amazing, the girl had a very special voice.. I was disappointed at the 11.. But I think it had something to do wit the people as well..
It seems that people were more into each other, than into the music..
Rework has a record coming up.. I'm very curious.... Hope I have the same feeling by listen to it as I had in Berlin..

Yeah that night was much better... But I think they also felt more comfortable in their own environment.
The girl is hot btw, in her own cute little twisted way... Prrrr.
