Faz is balancing on the boarders between Dub techno, Detroit, Jazz and Disco. Tight mixing and contagious rhythms spiced with some Funk is what makes this DJ one to keep an eye on. The DJ-mix Sauna Session vol. 1 is a crusade though the deep swamps of Dub and Detroit Techno.
At the Beatfreax headquarter summer is kicking in; sun, beachparties, flipflops, yihaa!!! Starting this week we’ll be previewing the coming festival season with our infamous annual festival guide!
Deze zomer bestaat Electronation alweer 6 jaar! Deze mijlpaal is natuurlijk een reden voor een knallend feestje! Onder de hoede van danceplatform klinch organiseert Electronation deze Birthday Bash in de Melkweg.
Both caught by São Paulo's underground dance music scene, Ana Luiza Gelfei and David Merlino first met in 1994 at Hell's Club, a legendary venue that represented Brazil's introduction to club culture. Also the spot where Ana and David got married, soon after they met. Countless stairs have been climbed since then.
Orypabu Rave was the place where PET Duo played in front of an audience for the first time, back in 1997. Two years of lots of work on improving technically came together in 1999 as an invitation to be residents at A Lôca, one of Brazil's leading techno clubs and a fuel that did help to fire their career. A higher level of recognition came – on the same year, A Lôca’s Fridays scooped the award for Best Regular Night at Brazil’s coveted “Melhores da Noite Ilustrada” awards, promoted every year by "Folha de São Paulo", one of the most important South American newspapers. Since then, PET Duo have been nominated several times as Best Techno DJs on this award.
In 2000 PET Duo had a chance to spin in London for the first time, alongside D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Chris Liberator, Guy "Geezer" McAffer, Lawrie Immersion, DDR and Gizelle, at Antiworld and Remix parties. On the following year, Ana PET was selected among 1600 people to join Red Bull Music Academy. It took place in London, and David went there as well. They had an opportunity to play in UK again then, at Acid Park and Dogstar parties. Also in 2001 Ana and David started promoting groundbreaking parties in Brazil – D.A.V.E The Drummer, Marco Bailey, Cristian Varela and Mark EG have already been their guests.
Late 2002 saw Ana and David continuing to enter the consciousness of the global underground techno community. DJ Rush invited PET Duo to join an European Kne’deep tour, what also came as a reward for all these years of having music as more of a priority than everything else in their lives. Kne’deep organised and sponsored the tour for them - countries such as Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Malta had a chance to check out their presentations. After the days spinning alongside DJ Rush, PET Duo were invited to join Kne’deep’s cast. Also went to Spain in order to share the decks with Cristian Varela. All these invitations – based on recognition, naturally – ensured us one certainty: there’s a lot more to come.
PET Duo does not only have a proven ability to blow us away with their technical skills as DJs, but are also an example of how charisma is an attribute that really counts – their more than enthusiastic home fan base is here to prove it. They keep working on their long-term and acclaimed residence at A Lôca, spinning at the most important techno events all over Brazil and have started to produce their own tracks. Also have been recently invited to join Energia 97 FM, producing a weekly show that is aired every Saturday night. As the years pass by, Ana and David gather more and more steam and show how it is to live as a tool for spreading the music they love.
A blend of confidence, verve, desire to achieve perfection, hard work and an infectious enthusiasm - an ultimate combination that takes PET Duo miles away from your idea of ordinary and sets them apart from most average techno DJs. Mixes that may embrace a funkier vein, but that will always head to that banging hard techno they've become synonymous with. Also assuming the challenging concept of dropping their cuts simultaneously on 4 decks/2 mixers besides spinning on the traditional way, Ana and David have proved with their smooth mixes – always spinning together – how syncronicity is a word that can definitely be associated with them. Cause and consequence of their union, a deep and mutual love for techno has kept them together. If the crowds have an insatiable appetite for techno, Ana and David are here to feed them.
last friday at Awakenings they were very very cool! I'm really into very hard techno music, but compared with the rest it was pretty dynamic! Also nice peeps by the way...
