Monokreck describes his style as "open minded house, from glitchy microhouse to deep techno, and all in between". Melting many styles of electronic music together to create a warm atmosphere on the dancefloor.
Love for music has been at the heart of everything Olaf Boswijk has been involved in since he finished the SAE (School for Audio Engineering) in 1999 and landed a job at the Dutch national radiostation New Dance Radio. After the station was bought by ID&T and changed it’s name to Slam!FM and later ID&T Radio, Boswijk was promoted to stationmanager, helping to establish ID&T Radio as the main source of dance music on national radio.
In 2003, feeling the need for fresh inspiration, Boswijk left ID&T to start his own company grand_theft_audio, with which he now organises Dutch events and party’s for labels as Naked Music, Inspirit, Compost, Freerange as well as Welcome to the future and his own monthly Red Hot-events in club NL. But grand_theft_audio is at the heart of many more of Olaf’s activities. He’s a freelance music journalist for ID&T Release, in charge of press & communications for restaurant_bar_club 11 as well as one of the Dutch representatives for the Red Bull Music Academy.
In 2004 he teamed up with Gert van Veen, as producer and host of the weekly Welcome to the future radioshow, which presented the newest electronic music, a weekly album chart and interviews with international DJ’s, producers and promotors. Their succesful radioshow is now taken to the next level with a weekly live internet broadcast from Studio 80, a brand new venue in the heart of Amsterdam experimenting with new music and internet.
As a DJ, Olaf has been keeping a low profile for years. His DJ-team Soul Control (with Jobbe Strobosch) used to be one of the best kept secrets of the Amsterdam deep house-scene. This all changed last year when he started to build a solid name as one of the upcoming DJ talents of Amsterdam, with an eclectic mix of leftfield (deep) house, minimal techno and electro, playing amongs others Winkel van Sinkel, Paradiso, Supperclub, Vaaghuyzen, Vega in Copenhagen (alongside TrentemØller and T.O.M.) and with festivals as Free Your Mind and Rockit Open Air coming up this summer. Olaf is resident in Club NL (Red Hot with Max 404) and Studio 80, where he’s not only radio-DJ but also has a weekly spot in the Welcome to the future clubnight.
- Interview done on 11-12-2007 "We hebben alle residents en hosts gevraagd goed na te denken welke dromen ze in het laatste jaar van 11 nog willen waarmaken, we want to go out with a bang!"
