Loveland presenteerde tijdens het Amsterdam Dance Event de officiële DVD van Loveland Festival 2008. Ruim 40 professionals hebben zich tijdens het festival ingezet om de mooiste momenten vast te leggen.
Aanstaande zaterdag is alweer de derde editie in 2008 van eartharea in de Sugar Factory. Elke editie nodigt resident dj Per een grote naam uit het Nederlandse dj-circuit uit om een bijzondere set neer te komen zetten. Ditmaal is de eer aan Lucien ‘the dreadman’ Foort.
Mike Ravelli was born December 17, 1983 in Haarlem, the Netherlands. As a little boy his ears were drawn by the sounds of the Jazz music his dad liked to play. He tried to imitate the solos on the family piano, but looked like a mad man instead. Therefore his parents made him take piano lessons and, as the years passed by, he learned to love making music just as much as listening to it. In the early 90’s, dance music started to take over Mike's interests. He started buying the "Turn up the Bass" and "House Party" cassettes, playing them over and over again on his small Hitachi stereo.
As the years went by, Mike’s collection of CD’s and singles grew rapidly. And as different kinds of dance-music evolved, so did his musical taste, eventually covering almost every corner of electronic music. Noticing his passion for dance music, his Economics teacher, a DJ himself, gave Mike a CD called “Mix Up” by Jeff Mills. Overwhelmed by the continuous, monotone motion of the early Detroit sound, Mike knew that, one day, he was destined to be a DJ himself.
Without even having DJ equipment, Mike started frequenting the local record store, listening and buying records from techno artists like Richie Hawtin, Gaetano Parisio and Ben Sims. At the age of 17, Mike managed to move to a place for his own. In his small room, he quickly bought the equipment he needed to let his DJ career take off.
With invitations in small bars and parties at friends’ places, he managed to bring his music out in the open very quickly. And even though his energetic, minimal techno sound kept the crowd dancing for hours, Mike felt he needed to make a switch to a more enchanting style of music. He started buying records with a more sophisticated sound, most of them coming from smaller labels in Germany. His first trips to techno capital of the world Berlin handed him the final confirmation: this kind of music was the music he was longing for.
Appearing on the legendary Familieweekend in the summer of 2005, he entered a new phase in his life as a DJ. With his six-hour marathon set he surpluses all expectations, claiming a place as a DJ in the Gasten Zonder Grenzen collective, widely known for their wild (after) parties in the area of Amsterdam. As a partner of underground heroes like Ille Bitch and De Man Zonder Schaduw, he now found his own space in the Dutch scene.
The year 2006 was a complete turn around for Mike. After playing in several clubs and venue's, other people started to see his talents as well. This resulted in recidency's at Club Stalker, Gasten Zonder Grenzen and a weekly radio show on Livesets.com. To top it all of, international gigs are on the agenda as well. Being only twenty-two years of age, it seems Mike’s dreams of a professional DJ career are now only a matter of time...
