Loveland presenteerde tijdens het Amsterdam Dance Event de officiële DVD van Loveland Festival 2008. Ruim 40 professionals hebben zich tijdens het festival ingezet om de mooiste momenten vast te leggen.
Aanstaande zaterdag is alweer de derde editie in 2008 van eartharea in de Sugar Factory. Elke editie nodigt resident dj Per een grote naam uit het Nederlandse dj-circuit uit om een bijzondere set neer te komen zetten. Ditmaal is de eer aan Lucien ‘the dreadman’ Foort.

His wide-ranging approach to music has led him to play with some of the most respected heavy weights in dance music including, Francois K, Theo Parrish, Carl Craig, The Trüby Trio, Dimitri, and many more. His musical journeys have been delivered in venues from Panama to the Paradiso, from the NL to Off Corso and across nations taking in Spain, Belgium and the USA as well as at dance-& music-festivals like Lowlands, World Port Jazz, Dance Valley, Mystery Land, Park Pop, WMC (Miami, USA). Since 2002 Kareem has also been the resident at H*RT - where he was also the co founder together with Myra Driessen - since 2002. Orginally housed in Panama, H*RT is now a free roaming event, turning up on those extra special occasions at various venues in Amsterdam/the Netherlands.
Currently fuelled by a hunger for new inspirations after a busy few years on the dance circuit, Kareem's new productions find him traveling through his Moroccon roots out into a voyage through the labyrinths of "world music". Taking full advantage of his knowledge of western production techniques, the result so far is a dynamic fusion of raw tumbling beats as the inspirational rhythms and voices of the world meet the innovations of western technology.
Blending Mondial
Kareem knows one thing for sure: 'for me, it's always dance music – there's not going to be any change in that'. While fusing in global beats to his musical voyage, he's still bringing in influences from soul, break and broken beats, dub, nu-jazz, tribal and soulful tech/no/house to his mix, and he still has his eye on creating that special moment when 'you're body is dancing, you've forgotten time, your head flies away and the trance kicks in...'
Merging the rhythms and vibes of 'world music' into his melting pot have already led him to remix "Firefly" from U.K. producer Da Latta on his album "serious" and to create new tracks with Amsterdam based artists Jimmy Rage and a ragga, dance hall flavoured number with singer Rafaella Herbert. He is also concentrating on building up a band again - Kareem will produce and control the on stage sound effects and syncopated mixes while the rest of the crew looks set to involve a flute player, a bass player, a DJ and a singer and /or poet to deliver the lyrics and vocals. Currently with his head down in the studio, the earliest Kareem expects to be performing is summer '05.
The Journey so far (Background)
It was Dimitri of Amsterdam, who discovered Kareem in 1996 and provided the platform for him to begin his DJ-ing career as his stand in during his set at the 'Hi Tech Soul Movement' night at the legendary "ROXY". Since then Kareem, has built up a studio and begun producing. Together with his partner in crime DJ Tommy, Kareem released 6 12inches under the name Soulful Distortion and succeeded in surprising the dance scene of Amsterdam, not to mention the rest of Holland.
Kareem's original sound led to artists like Floris (Nu-Jazz), Midnight Sessions (House/Techno) and others to him to remix their favourite tracks and he has lent his sonic vibes to the creation of several new tracks with various artists.
His mixed compilation - STORIES by KAREEM RAIHANI - a fusion of deep basses, uplifting rhythms and soullful sounds, that doesn't loose that underground feeling - was well received by both the press & audiences alike: “ a surprising start for this new talent” ('OOR', the respected music magazine of Holland). From Dance Valley to the World Port Jazz Festival and from Barcelona to the USA, Kareem always embraces his audience and takes them with him on his musical journey.
