Artist: k-hand

(A.K.A. DJ Messenger aka K-HAND, Kelli Hand, DJ K-HAND, , , , , Orange Champa)

Kelli Maria Hand , musician and Dance entrepreneur, startedup her label U.K. House Records in May 1990 out of her Detroithome, inspired by local Techno Artists such as Derrick May andJeff Mills. Her first singles, Think About It and Living For Anotherintroduced U.K. House Records and herself to the underground musiccommunity.

Realizing the need to associate her label with the Detroit techno/dancescene, Kelli renamed it Acacia Records (after a street in Detroit).Subsequently, tunes like Ready For The Darkness, Serial Image,No Heartbreaks and Can't Live Without Your Love wer e released, with such collaborations like RHYTHM FORMATION (K. Hand and ClaudeYoung) and Chez Damier remixing Can't Live Without Your Love addingto the profile of the label. Meanwhile, Kelli herself also startedto remix for other artists, while tracks of hers got picked upby foreign labels (e.g. Mystery, released on Berlin's Tresor Records).

Because of the growing success, Kelli decided to expand her horizonsunder the company name Hitmusic, taking on new labels such as379 West, Matrix and Jagged Edge Records. End of last year thefirst K. Hand record on R & S Records' subsidiary Global Cuts(a double offering containing the tracks Rodeo and The Tunnel, each one in three mixes) saw the light of day. Recently it wasfollowed by the 12"/CD The Saints Go Marching On, a stomping Club track coupled with a version of the former cult favouriteBa Da Bing and the Extra track 40 Acres And A Mule. If you'relooking for raw, undiluted Dance pleasure, this is definitelya package to get hold of...

Kelli's goals for the future are to continue to expand Hitmusicand its subsidiaries, and also to gain more exposure in the UnitedStates and overseas by DJ-ing and playing live. Watch out forher impending first appearance in these parts in the months t ocome!
