 Amsterdam's Joost van Bellen, who is widely considered Holland's expert DJ on the evolving sounds of cutting edge electronic music, has his first dance hit with the track "Filthy and Raw" by Cowgum. He has been an in-demand international DJ star for many years and the hosts of the city's most notable music events, but the single, co-produced by Richard Cameron has created a new firestorm of attention. His history of playing the latest, greatest dance music has moved from disco to punk, rap to house, speedgarage to electro, to his current playlist of distortion disko, dance-punk, and techno-rocking acid house. Emerging in 1985, Joost has been an strong presence on the Dutch dance scene winning awards and supporting the international electronic music community. His early parties in the infamous Squat club Armadillo featured garage punk and psychedelic music. One of the first dj’s to champion house music at the now legendary ROXY nightclub, he created parties that featured an irreverent mix of fashion, humor, fashion, art, celebrity performances and street culture which brought new cache to the Amsterdam nightclub scene.
His recent events at RAUW have featured international stars such as Blackstrobe, The Glimmers, Erol Alkan, Felix da Housecat, Larry Tee, T. Raumschmiere, Djs Are Not Rockstars feat. Princess Superstar, Headman, Tommie Sunshine, Junior Sanchez, and many more and have been getting rave reviews in the media. One of the most exciting aspects of his regular events are the live performances from international acts like Vitalic, Whitey, Warren Suicide, MU, Avenue D, Captain Comatose and Cantankerous which injects some much-needed personality into the music mix.
Joost is also hosting another legendary night in the Netherlands: Club Filth is touring the world with a mad mix of music and outrageous decorations, after visiting Barcelona and Berlin, Club Filth is due for a Canadian adventure this fall.

Joost is a regular dj at Peaches' club Rio in Berlin, the Glimmers' homebase Culture Club, Razzmatazz and Mond in Barcelona... He played in the UK at Return to New York twice, at Boutique, Erol Alkan's Trash, V-festival and Ladytron's Evol...
Apart from being a dj, producer and promoter, Joost is an in demand mixer for music scores for fashion shows. Especially his brilliant mixes for the international Diesel shows, in Europe and during the New York Fashion Week, make him one of the rising stars for the international catwalks.
The current hit "Filthy and Raw" by Cowgum, a collaboration with Arling and Cameron's Richard Cameron, became a Miami Winter Music Conference hit this spring and is set to be rereleased in September 2005 with mixes by Mark Verbos, Larry Tee and the Glimmers. new material is in the works. A remix for Princess Superstar and Larry Tee’s Licky is coming out end August. He will be touring Europe to support the release of his new single and will fly to the US and Canada in the fall where generous media attention from Urb, BPM, and the Village Voice has increased demand.
