Hailing from the Southern part of Germany, Bodensee, Henrik Schwarz is a longtime veteran in the German deephouse scene. Djing was his first love, but as a genuine music lover his musical boundaries were never restricted to one type of music only. In his early dj-heydays he played all major clubs and parties in southern Germany and got to know the scene insideout.
Taking the opportunity to concentrate on his second love, design, he eventually slowed down his musical activities for some years but never lost his sight on all things fresh and groundbreaking in the music-scene.
In mid-nineties he started slowly but surely get to grips with the production side of things and soon was playing live jams with his friends at the Bodensee area. This eventually was the initiation for his magical touch for his live sound. The option to use laptops instead of records took Henrik one step further, playing dj-sets with computers long before anybody else was doing it.
Now he is more often seen playing live with his belowed Powerbook than carrying records. Sad though, as he is one hell of a good dj as well. His grooves sounds as if they would definately not come from a machine, rather it sounds like a band jamming and doing some serious jazz bussiness.
As Rik&Pete, Henrik invites his long-time friend Pete Pardeike to join in the live-orgy with his own Powerbook to create a Groove That Won´t Stop. The duo allready played a handfull of gigs (Robert Johnson, Club Sensor) with monster response. Henrik also accompanied Freestyle Man on their recent Panorama Bar (Berlin) gig which made the roof blow away.
Even if he only has released one record (Henrik Scwarz - Supravison EP - Moodmusic 016), there is allready more planned and there is definately more to hear! 9 years of production has left a lot of classic material to be released and there is allready an album planned for Moodmusic later this year with more 12-inch releases as well.
His latest project is the Sunday-Music label together with Sasse aka Freestyle Man. A mysterious label releasing co-productions from the Finnish-German connection combined with hi-quality design and strictly limited pressing will for sure make a stir in the more concerned music circles.
As with all things good, it´s worth to wait. With Henrik Schwarz the waiting is over.
