Beatfreax podcast: Faz
Faz is balancing on the boarders between Dub techno, Detroit, Jazz and Disco. Tight mixing and contagious rhythms spiced with some Funk is what makes this DJ one to keep an eye on. The DJ-mix Sauna Session vol. 1 is a crusade though the deep swamps of Dub and Detroit Techno.

Artist: gregor tresher

(A.K.A. Billy Nasty & Gregor Tresher)

Gregor TresherSniper Mode a.k.a. Gregor Trescher is by no means a newcomer: In the European landscape of electronic music, Trescher (born 1976) is already well-known for his releases under various monikers on labels like Datapunk, Electrix, Elektrolux, Mikrolux, Frisbee or PV Records, amongst which we have seen remarkable tracks of his make: his real debut however was in 2001 on Elektrolux Records: 'Big City Lights' has been a clear commitment of Gregor's Sniper Mode project to electro for the dancefloor. The following full-length album 'Wastelands' was the blueprint for laying the foundation of Elektrolux' new sublabel Mikrolux. In 2003 the second longplayer 'Travellers Beyond' also followed this direction.

'The second half of the project name Sniper Mode is hinting Trescher's self-assessment period within the boundaries of Frankfurt City: almost no one working there and being creative within electronic music can deny the influence of early songs by Depeche Mode, and so Gregor rates 1984's 'Construction Time Again' to one of his all-time favourite albums in pop history. He also was an addict to the synthetic music of the eighties in general and artists like Heaven 17, The Human League, Anne Clark... we know them all.'

In 2003 various remixes are being worked on, of which a remarkable example is the remix for ueNN's 'Reality', which caused a stir within the community of electro-fans, further together with Pascal FEOS, Gregor remixes 'Me & You' of Germany's synthetic-pop's past masters Camouflage. In January 2004, the first Sniper Mode DJ-Mix-Compilation 'Mikrocodes. One' is released, and once more Gregor defines the sound of Sniper Mode: Electro in all its facets.

Early 2004 Gregor finds a new home for Sniper Mode on Billy Nasty's Electrix Records in the UK, releasing the first 12inch in winter 2004: 'Life Under The Strobelight'. Also, he starts working on new techno-productions and not only influenced by his latest electro-tracks, he inserts vocals spoken or sung by himself, often alienated and distorted, never on the basis of dull dance-lyrics but always containing messages or little tales. For Anthony Rother's newly established label Datapunk, Gregor produces his 'Firewalls/Firebutton' EP, which he decides to publish under his real name for the first time, thus underlining his personal dedication to this important and outstanding release.

In 2004 Gregor also cooperates with 'Mr. Voodooamt' Patrick Lindsey. In summer 2004 they complete their first joint 12-inch 'It just won't stop', and release it on Monika Kruse's Terminal M Records.

Actually, Gregor is more busy than ever: Besides working on new music for his new homebases Datapunk and Electrix, he also renews his work as a DJ playing in clubs all over Europe in 2005, supporting Anthony Rother on his 'This is Electro'-Tour...
