After his summer smash hit "Napolitanzer" together with Fokko Versloot it was time for Beatfreax to ask him to do a mix for our podcast. And here it is! An awesome mix with tracks by e.g. Nils Number, Dimitri Andreas, Lopazz and of course the man himself.
Performance artist or Perverted Genius ?
Paris the Black Fu may be both Paris the Black Fu and the Detroit Grand Pubahs are patiently waiting for their flight to be called for boarding. In the midst of flirting with a flight attendant no one hears that the gate was changed and he/they have now missed his/their flight home from Lunaticville. They all start to bicker leaving him an emotional wreck. "It doesn't matter whose fault it is. Pointing the finger isn't going to solve anything!" He rants "Shut up! And give me some time to figure out how to get us home." Dealing with his personalities is a bit more difficult with the loss of Dr. Toefinger. Toefinger, while running tests in himself is now brain dead due to the Schitzophrenic Investigator tampering with the equipment. “Well, nothing else to do but grill him, grilled vegetables are my favourites.” Offers the offbeat killer. Paris opts to keep Toefinger in a cryogenic life-support chamber until he figures out a way to reverse Toefinger’s condition.
The struggle to let his other personalities shine has taken his/their music and show to another level he/they is/are happiest when he/they is/are performing. "It is no longer I and me, but us and we."
While having all this fun he still managed to have his debut single “Sandwiches,” from the album “Funk All Ya’ll”, a huge hit gaining worldwide notoriety. When a Jive Electro A&R man, dutifully out buying records at a local strip club, heard it he immediately knew he had witnessed something special (though perhaps it was the cocktails), and prepared to unleash it on the world. Since then, he / they've been mentioned in URB's next 100, Rolling Stone's “Top Ten To Watch In 2001,” scored a pop hit in a number of countries and an underground classic worldwide.
Since then Paris and the Pubahs continue to do shows. “It’s what we love,” says Paris, “I don’t know what we’d do if we weren’t performing.” Combining a semi-live show which spoken word, comedy, and Paris-skills as a DJ. You’re sure to enjoy yourselves.
He / they have been in the studio preparing a new album which will be released on Steve Bug’s label PokerFlat early 2004. ‘Detroit Grand Pubahs: the only non-stop erotic techno cabaret worth catching’
