After his summer smash hit "Napolitanzer" together with Fokko Versloot it was time for Beatfreax to ask him to do a mix for our podcast. And here it is! An awesome mix with tracks by e.g. Nils Number, Dimitri Andreas, Lopazz and of course the man himself.
Daniel Mehlhart was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1986 and raised up in a suburb of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. His parents are musicians, so it was given that he would play some kind of instrument. He started playing the drums at the age of 12 for about 6 years. In this time he got in touch with electronic music by listening the ‘Clubnight’ on HR3 radio. Fascinated by this kind of music, he bought his first set up at the age of 16 and has been spinning now for 4 years.
Nowadays Daniel Mehlhart is busy in producing electronic music. His series of releases started on the netlabel FOEM-Crema in spring 2006 followed by a 4 track 12" on the UK Label ‘Evolved Recordings’ and a release and on Netherlands imprint ‘Manual Music". Now up his musical output will be released on his new homebase Karmarouge Records.
In his productions and DJ sets Daniel Mehlhart loves to seduce the the partycrowd to dream, dance and love. Warm deep rolling basslines are the most important stylistic device. They transmit this kind of funk and sexyness in sound which let you dance smoothly over the floor.
When he started to go out, he always was into the queues before the club openend. To catch the full range of tension in a set is and was elementary for having a great night. In his tracks one always finds this tension, which mainly results out of long build ups.
In some cases you can even find some freckles of humor and irony. On the one had it may sounds serious and lost in deepness, and on the other hand its sometimes just an exaggeration of a cliché. Fine arranged melodies from multiple soundsources do the rest to get an impression of what he considers to be good, electrifying electronic music.
With his DJing adventures so far, Daniel is mainly spinning minimal and Techouse tracks but also some deep, funky housetunes in his sets. It’s always the groove that makes him move…
