Beatfreax podcast: Koen Lebens
After his summer smash hit "Napolitanzer" together with Fokko Versloot it was time for Beatfreax to ask him to do a mix for our podcast. And here it is! An awesome mix with tracks by e.g. Nils Number, Dimitri Andreas, Lopazz and of course the man himself.

This Is™ Amsterdam in Paradiso
Sander Kleinenberg keert met zijn ‘This Is’ concept terug naar Paradiso. Na een zeer succesvolle ‘This Is Paradiso’ in 2008 was het voor beide partijen niet meer dan logisch om het niet bij 1 keer te laten.

Artist: damon wild

Wild began his musical career as a DJ on WTUL in his hometown of Louisiana, where he played a range of musical styles from Kraftwerk and Cabaret Voltaire to early acid house.

In 1990 he moved to New York where he would eventually become a key figure on the City's underground techno scene. Whilst working at Frankie Bones' record store, Sonic Groove, he released 'Unleash the Groove' on Strictly Rhythm. After several further releases on various labels, Wild began to really make a name for himself producing hard, dark, acid and synth fuelled techno stompers. In 1992, whilst setting up his first record label, Experimental, Wild hit it big with the rave anthem 'Rave generator' which he recorded with Ray love. The tune hit the top ten in the UK and gave Wild his biggest commercial success.

Though Experimental was relatively short lived, it was crucial in showcasing the initial talents of artists like Freddie Fresh, Tim Taylor (Who Wild would later often record with) and Woody McBride. Wild soon left to set up his second label, Synewave, a label that he still successfully runs and records for today. On Synewave Wild put out some of his biggest underground hits. Tunes such as 'Bang the Acid' and 'Afghan Acid', both recorded with the UK's Tim Taylor, rocked techno clubs across the UK and Europe. At the same time he was signing other producers to the label, Woody McBride and Freddy Fresh both returned and Morgan Geist and Steve Stoll, two artists producing similarly hi tempo, hard dancefloor techno, also recorded for Synewave.

In 1988 Wild released his first full length album on the label that fully showcased the hard as nails, funky industrial techno sound that he had made his own and perfectly bought together the mix of Industrial, hard Jack Chicago acid house and the electronica of Cabaret Voltaire that he had played together on his radio show a decade earlier.
