After his summer smash hit "Napolitanzer" together with Fokko Versloot it was time for Beatfreax to ask him to do a mix for our podcast. And here it is! An awesome mix with tracks by e.g. Nils Number, Dimitri Andreas, Lopazz and of course the man himself.
At the crossing of house and techno is the hugely respected French artist, Julien Veniel, aka D'Julz. A major player on the French electronic scene, D'Julz holds his head up high in the company of the likes of Erik Rug, DJ Deep, Laurent Garnier and the Daft Punks. Having already recorded original productions on Onionz & Joeski's Maya and the French label, Serial, he makes his debut on the 20:20 Vision label, with a rather stunning slab of vinyl. D'Julz has also remixed Celeda's 'Burning Up' on the US label, Twisted, Marino Berardi's 'Expressions in E dub' on Belgian label, Wally's Groove World, and continues to make great strides as a producer. As a Dj, D’julz has tribal, dub, funk and breakbeat influences. He holds residencies at the Rex Club and the famous Magic Garden parties in Paris but has also taken his box to Fabric, Glasgow's Alaska, The Tunnel in New York and Barcelona's La Terrazza. Look out for a stunning double mix cd, 'D'Julz Boxes', set to come out on React and featuring tracks from the Inland Knights, Joeski & Chus, Terry Francis, Wolf n Flow and Swag, as well as his own amazing mix of an unreleased Funky Transport track. D’julz Boxes is out in the UK on the 4th of feb 2002 with press releases including one full page features in Musik (feb issue), one full page feature in Jockey Slut (feb issue) and leading compilation review in Mixmag (feb issue). Sometimes pumpin, sometimes dub, hypnotic or funky but definitely house music.
