Artist: chris lake

(A.K.A. Rowan Blades & Chris Lake)

Praised by the crème de la crème of DJ talent, those that know Chris Lake will know how serious he is about his music and how obsessive he is about his DJing and production. This is evident in the care, craft and boundless passion that goes into his DJing which has led to his sets becoming known for their originality, innovation and flawless display of technical skill, but most of all for their energy. Chris possesses a natural ability to work records to their limits, blending beats, building the tension and then taking the roof off!

The transition from new kid on the block, to becoming a firm favourite amongst the top flight DJs has been rapid to say the least. His past successes including his awesome remix of SIA's classic 'Drink To Get Drunk' and his own 'Santiago De Cuba' which was released on Hooj Choons off-shoot label, Lost Language first made the world's DJing elite, such as Sasha, Digweed, Kleinenberg and gang sit up and take notice.

His bootleg of the Prodigy's much over-looked album track 'Climbatize', recorded under his law dodging alter-ego, Christophe D'Abuc became one of the most sought after whites of 2002 and confirmed his position as one of the most talented young producers to come out of the scene in recent years.

Such was the enormity of 'Climbatize's' success, that Liam Howlett (of the Prodigy) heard it, loved it, and (luckily) rather than taking Chris to court, he insisted that XL officially license it for a full release. Lovely!

2004 saw Chris endeavouring to develop his sound through a collaboration with the now legendary Rowan Blades (Breeder), which produced one of the standout peak-time tracks of the year, Filth on Desyn Masiello's highly respected Alternative Route imprint.

Now with a hunger for combining his production talents with others, he hooked up with his long standing friends of the Industry Asher Jones and Neil Barber, aka Rhythm code, at the beginning of 2005, and since then things have gone a bit mental! In under 6 months they have amassed 12 original productions for labels such as Dekay, Maris Music, Deeper Substance, Statra US, Symphonic and Babylon, and remixes of DeLacy's awesome classic 'Hideaway', J-me & Kay's 'Dirty Angels' for Alternative Route , and Kid Massive feat. Tiger Lily - Jetset for Kickin music paving the way to further success with the formation of Ramsay and Chris Lake vs Rhythm Code!

Through his original productions, remixes and tireless DJing, Chris Lake has taken his sound far and wide. All of this has come together to consolidate Chris Lake's place at the top of the heap of new UK producers.
