Over the years, DJ Aardvarck (Mike Kivits) has built up a solid reputation of uncompromising quality and versatility in the dutch dance scene, both underground and above. From Hip Hop in the early 80s upto the present he's been in the avantgarde of all major dance styles.
On discovering house music in '88, he started organising the first house parties and clubnights in the south of the Netherlands. By the time house music became mainstream he had been playing regularly at most major dutch venues (Roxy, Ma22o, Waakzaamheid, Effenaar, Noorderlicht etc.) and decided to develop an alternative sound.
From '91 on he featured in many underground parties in Amsterdam, such as Morning Glory, Paddewezen and Graansilo and released his first 12" on DJAX records.
When Vrieshuis Amerika was squatted in '95, he became the dj of the very successful Palletclub, which introduced drum&bass, and nu- jazzfunk breakbeats to Amsterdam. '96 saw his 2nd 12" on Signum, and collaboration with Relaxo Abstracto live events (with David Caron and Sandor Caron).
