Matthew and Alasdair about this podcast:
"This mix was recorded with the fact in mind that we are to be setting up a new digital record label soon, so we wanted to make a set involving some of the sounds we're looking into putting out. We have included a couple of tracks that we are hoping to sign soon, from Daria and Kontraform. Both have caught our "ear" with some of their productions, and the tracks are both peak time in their own right. Luna Parc having a slight haunting to it, and Swarm a real bounce.
We're looking into bringing together more established names (Elias Landberg, Dachschund, TG, Masaya, Marc Ashken, Mihalis Safras), with some lesser known talent who's music we have been playing out alot. Things are looking quite exciting for the project, and we hope that this exclusive mix gives a nod to that.
It's always hard to deliver what everyone wants in a mix, but considering the support we've been gaining from some top names, we thought we'd just roll out some music that has had an effect on us, be it playing them out in our gigs, or being on the dancefloor and soaking in the reactions. We had fun making this, laughing through most of it, as we're always thinking what it would sound like on a good system.
It kicks off kinda quirky with "Bombaros" and "Kambuca" being mixed almost all the way through, combining Luciano's bass line and bongo's with Audiofly and Scarlette's stabs and harmonies, working into Daria's deep haunting. It was easy from this point on as we knew we could go in any direction we pleased.
It was just good fun to make. We're always looking for fresh sounds, stuff that's gonna do damage, but in a way, subtle. We've done a pretty good job of not pigeon holing ourselves to a certain bastardization of house or techno so far, and we intend to keep it that way.
We ended with "The R8 Mooger" as it absolutely tears roofs down when we play it out. The drums and bassline just give you that feeling that you may die, it's just an awesome piece of music. Our mate nearly had a heart attack when we all heard this out one night on a funktion1 soundsystem. It was pretty funny!
Hope you all enjoy the mix, keep you ears and eyes open for news on our label. For any information, or if you just want to get in touch, feel free to look us up on our myspace page."
