At the two-day art festival in The Hague, TodaysArt, advertising agency Habbekrats (known from their work for Opgezwolle, De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Pete Philly & Perquisite, Guillermo & Tropical Danny, Tiësto en Hi Chatman) will take over the Korzo theatre on Friday the 22nd of September.Victor & Jim from Habbekrats invite friends and partners in adversity to exhibit their tricks on stage. A few phone calls resulted in a line-up full of variety, with music, film and of course – as expected – painting. Each of the four venues in the Korzo theatre will take such hard artistic knocks, that nobody will even think of asking 'who's there'. So, we will tell you now.
In the large hall, the line-up consists of three acts that all share a love for electronic music machinery. Twisted as that may sound, something big is going to happen that you may want to check out: Hiphop-producer Kubus (known from productions for Opgezwolle, DuvelDuvel and Jawat!) will unveil the results of his collaboration with English rapper Bang Bang. Write that down or memorize it, cause it's a first and it's gonna be good. C-mon & Kypski, the quartet from Utrecht, found a tiny hole in their busy schedule right before the release of their third album Where the wild things are and will perform after Kubus and Bang Bang. Then it is up to Nobody Beats The Drum to finish off what's left of the sound system.
At the same time, in the small venue, things will be slightly more subtle and refined. Once upon a time, not long ago, Jim from Habbekrats was a student at the music academy. There he met Mike Roelofs, who managed to become a famous jazz pianist. Together with the Mike Roelof's Sextet, Mike will grace us with his presence.
Then, something to top it all off and call it a night: Pete Philly & Perquisite introduced Victor & Jim to Kasper Kalf, who tours with the aforementioned duo as bass player. Kasper Kalf is also a member of Monsieur Dubois, which will show the audience that danceable 'hardjazz' is not a paradox.
In the movie venue the visitors can enjoy a non-stop film program full of short films, video's, commercials and animations, made exclusively by friends of Habbekrats. In the café next to the theatre Emiel Steenhuizen and Michiel ten Horn will exhibit their paintings. Both are illustrators, animators and directors and in their spare time they manage to mess about with paint, which so far resulted in surprisingly good stuff. Did we already mention that there's even more?
