Rotterdam is a dazzling and creative city with a unique youth culture and has one of the largest, yet hidden networks within the music scene, mainly the electronic music scene.

Rotterdam is not a cinematic city but it does have an International Film festival. Amsterdam is not the city with the biggest club scene but it does have the Amsterdam Dance Event. Starting November 2006 Rotterdam will have its Electronic Music Festival, shortly REMF.

Since the early nineties many DJ’s, clubs, organizers of parties, record stores, labels and stages have worked hard to earn a leading position within the electronic music scene. Now it is time to introduce these pioneers and creative minds to a larger audience by means of a festival in Rotterdam.

REMF aims to reach a broad audience. Not only REMF will try to please music lovers and the nightlife, but also the music industry. Main goal is to spread knowledge, to enlarge the network and to give an insight in the whole process preceding dancing to a record in a club or watching a show at your favorite stage.

The organization behind REMF consists of Michel Smit (Cultural Development / Off_Corso), Joachim Marijnen (Sound Architecture) and Irfan Er (Goozr). They have started to work hard in order to realize a pilot edition of the festival at various locations in the city. The pilot takes place Thursday 9th Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November 2006. The first complete edition of the festival, including outdoor locations will take place June 2007.
