On Friday the 23 of June 360-hosts, Nuno dos Santos and Patrice Baümel, will invite the American Matthew Dear to take place in our dj-booth for a live performance.It won’t be the first time that this Texan will be doing his thing in 11. Last year he shined next to the likes of Magda during Voltt high up in our dance-tower. He completely blew the audience away and we expect him to do so again on the 23rd of June.
It was during his teenage years that Matthew was captured by the sound of Detroit techno. As a student at the University of Michigan he ran into Sam Valenti at a party. They got talking and soon after got the idea to launch their label ‘Ghostly International’, where Dear would be the first artist to sign. Under several alter egos (False, Audion, Jabberjaw) he has now released tracks on labels like Perlon and Richie Hawtins Plus 8. His music is witty, energetic yet intelligent and with his debut album ‘Leave Luck to Heaven’ – released in 2003 - he adds a human touch to dance. He received great reviews worldwide from respected magazines like Rolling Stone, XLR8R, Spin, The New York Times and Groove Magazine which makes Dear into a much talked about dj-producer amongst insiders. However it’s his floor-friendly mixes and groovy beats that gets his audience going. There’s no doubt that he’ll be doing the same during 360 this Friday.
No introductions are needed when 11 residents Nuno dos Santos and Patrice Baümel come into the picture. The’ve managed to get audiences into a frenzy on manier occasion, so we totally trust them to get you heated up on the 23rd of June. On our 12 screens Arnout Hulskamp will be giving away a videoperformance and here’s a peek into the future: The next coming editions of 360 several guest vj’s will be showing their talents in 11 under the supervision of Beyond Expression.
