Breaks, hiphop, techno and erhmmm… klezmer? Prepare to be surprised when the Holland shows hit Sonar Barcelona this year on June 15th and 17th.Supported by the Amsterdam Dance Event, musicXport.nl and 3FM BPM, the Kindred Spirits label will do a showcase featuring I.N.T., MC Melodee and DJ Antal. Also performing at the festival are Pete Philly & Perquisite, Aardvarck and C-Mon & Kypski.

Pete Philly & Perquisite
Mindstate, the debut album by Pete Philly and Perquisite, takes you back to the glory days when hip hop MCs made the crowd people dance, when hip hop lyrics used to make people think. As a live band with upright bass, saxophone and even cello, they've toured Europe with Kanye West, Leela James, Dizzee Rascal and Saian Supa Crew, and rocked crowds at festivals such as North Sea Jazz, Lowlands and Capetown Jazz. Following the release of Mindstate in Europe and Japan in 2005, the album was also released in America, Canada and Australia in May 2006 on the ANTI label, home to artists such as Tom Waits, Blackalicious and Michael Franti.

Aardvarck
Mike Kivits is DJ Aardvarck, and he’s been a player of the Dutch dan! ce scene ever since his discovery of house. Having released records on Rush Hour, Djax Up-Beats, Signum, Music For Speakers and Delsin, last year Aardvarck shot to fame with Cult Copy, a track that attracted attention from top DJ ‘s such as Carl Craig, Rolando, Josh Wink, Trevor Jackson and Ivan Smagghe. The eponymously titled album got rave reviews in magazines worldwide.

C-Mon & Kypski
C-Mon & Kypski is the combination of a producer, award winning turntablist/drummer, guitarist and a keyboard player. The chemical mixture of these 4 resulted in the albums Vinyl Voodoo (2002) and Static Traveller (2004). Last year, they've grown into a rock solid live band, playing South-by-South-West (Texas), CMJ (NYC) and Rock 'n Coke (Istanbul). Their debut video Shitty Bum was downloaded over 400.000 times.

Kindred Spirits: deep grooves from Amsterdam
The Kindred Spirits label started when the guys from the Rush Hour Record store in Amsterdam sat down with DJ KC The Funkaholic, a long time Dutch radio and club DJ, and the Machine VJ Crew. The guys behind the label are a group of music fanatics who share the same vibes and ideas and formed a collective in order to spread their love and inspiration for music to a wider audience. Apart from the label, Kindred Spirits is also a popular club night in Amsterdam’s Paradiso. Important is their boundless mix of the deepest soul and jazz, the heaviest Latin and funk, boogie and disco, honest hiphop, Brazilian music and afro-beat, soulful house and new futuristic music styles. www.kindred-spir! its.nl
I.N.T. with MC Melodee
I.N.T is known for his soulful hiphop: he released his first record in 1993, but also looks outside the borders of hiphop with projects like Nod Navigators. Together with MC Melodee he forms La Melodia. Melodee is a vocalist for a number of Kindred Spirits projects, and she also works as a party organizer and host. Antal is one of the founders of the Rush Hour store, from where countless parties and records have been launched to inject the world of dance music with a little bit of soul.
