On the 20th of May the 8th edition of Teleskope will take place and will make room for several artists from the Parisian label Versatile. Versatile is known for groundbraking tracks from artists like Château Flight, I:Cube, Daft Punk, Joakim, Osunlade and many more. The people behind Teleskope will see a small dream come true with the arrival of Versatile-founders Gilb’r and I:Cube, who will be accompanied by one half of the German duo Âme. Gilb’r, founder of Versatile Records in Paris and one half of Château Flight has been a guest before during Art Beat/Museumnacht. With his buddy Joakim (Tigersushi/Versatile) they managed to heat up 11 to sizzling heights untill early the next morning and after this, they wanted more. The idea for a labelnight was born and we couldn’t think of a better night for it to take place than in conjunction with Teleskope. Musically the two fit together perfectly. Wild ideas were emailed back and forth between Amsterdam and Paris and finally we agreed: Frank Wiedermann, one half of our favorite dj- and producing duo Âme (Innervisions, Karlsruhe) will also be making an appearance. Which is no coincidence, as it was that same Frank who was also the guest-dj during Teleskope’s first edition back in October 2005.
The night will be extra special because I:Cube (real name: Nicholas Chaix) will be playing in The Netherlands for the very first time. Besides his projects with Gilb’r as Château Flight, some of you might also know him as a solo producer, live act and dj who gets his inspiration from genres like hip-hop, detroit techno, ambient, electronica and house. His productions and remixes have appeared on mix-cd’s by both Steve Bug and DJ-Kicks from Playgroup. He recently had some big hits with his remix of Phonique’s ’99 & a half’ on the Dessous-label followed by the oldskool housetrack ‘Chicago sur Seine’. His new album ‘Live at the Planetarium’ has just been released. A live album full of ambient and electronics which he made especially for the Parisian Planetarium de Vilette during the Star Ball Festival in 2005.
Like always this all-star line-up will be accompanied by Teleskope-residents Edo Salgado and Olaf next to visual (screen)artist Vasco Neering, aka De Beeldfabriek. Typical for Teleskope is the alternative mix of downtempo electronica, hiphop, disco, broken beats and leftfield deephouse. Slowly but surely their sound and visuals are becoming more well known, even outside of Amsterdam.
