News: lemon8 - model8 on plus8

Lemon8 - Model8 on Plus8 Remastered reissue of a timeless techno beacon.

Internationally recognizable and instantly addictive on a dancefloor, the acid house-meets-techno on 1993’s ‘Model8’ by the Netherlands Lemon8 (aka Harry Lemon) has been a classic with many DJ's since its debut over twelve years ago. The original and the Lemon8 Remix are both heavy hitters and perfectly bridge the electric attitude of acid house and the energy and finesse of techno.

The single has been championed for years by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and many more as integral secret weapons in their sets. The sheer explosive power of the Lemon8 remix alone pushes the senses with as much fervor and impact today as is did on the original release on Basic Energy in 1993. Timeless electronic music once again proves the point that techno is here to stay.

I really think this record should not be re-released!
I have great memories to this track. It's great when you can play it because you bought it over ten years ago or maybe you found it on the internet or something, but now everybody can and this summer I'm afraid it will be "overplayed"....
There are so many old tracks that will still get a dancefloor crazy!! I remember Hawtin playing some track in the Robert Johnson and everybody went crazy! People asked what (new) track that was and after some searching we found that it was a track of Terry Hunter released in 1990!!

That is the power of a dj to find those tracks. When a track is re-released and everybody will play it, the "charme" is gone.....

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

I have to agree with Chris on this one, although for Harry it must be a blast to have his record played everywhere just after about ten years...

Sorry guys, but I don't agree at all with you. In my opinion music is for everybody and keeping a release special has nothing to do with the number of times it has been sold. It's in your head..

Michael Jacksons' Thriller is to me a very special record, but sold a lot!

You know why Thriller sounds cool "again"? Because it was released about 10 years ago.... back in those days you just couldn't hear it anymore at some point.

But I agree, music is for everybody. Too bad the world doesn't cooperate to limit the plays of a certain track so it doesn't bore... (the "Rocker-effect" icon_smile.gif)

I think it's a bummer as well, searched the web for years to buy this record. Found it 6 months ago and paid some good money for it, now plus 8 is releasing it and my investment is worthless...

Too bad.

Internet killed the DJ star...

These days any person can buy every release at internet webshops or ebay.
These days every party visitor can listen live recorded dj-sets at the internet.

I don't think that the techno is that bad last couple of years. I think that the most partyvisitors are not suprised any more when they hear a record 4 or 5 times a week before a dj dropped it on a party...

this is easy money for m_nus&plus8; they re-release it because people will buy it. They don't care. This is how a label gets too commercial.
