At Saturday May 6th the kings of the deep electro disco, Chicken Lips, will come to Holland for an exclusive set at BOLD in club Panama, Amsterdam. The productions and dj sets of the Brittish trio Chicken Lips make the hearts of many music lovers beat faster. With performances of respected Dutchies Don Diablo & Marcello and Jesse Voorn, THE upcoming man at the Dutch electro-house front, they are in good company.
In a far past Dean Meredith and Andy Meecham wrote history under the name Bizarre Inc. Who didn’t grow up with classics like ‘Why waste your time? (You know you’re gonna be mine). As Chicken Lips they are on the frontline of the best punk-funk, nu-disco and electro-house. As producers they are a source of inspiration to many. Their own productions and remixes for artists like Tiga, The Kills, Maurice Fulton, Supergrass, Morcheeba and Hard Fi are locked down in the record cases of the Felix da Housecats, Tigas and Erol Alkans of this world. Chicken Lips collaborator and close friend, Stevie “Fella” Kotey, has been enlisted as Chicken Lips dj. With that addition the buzz around Chicken Lips only got bigger. Right now the trio has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon.
This just might be the last time that you could see Don Diablo in Amsterdam. Maybe even in Holland, because he’s moving to New York to work on his new album. Would this only be to work on new tracks or to hide from all his groupies? Yeah, it’s hectic around Don. Escpecially since he won the “Gouden Kabouter” for “Most sexy male dj”, twice in a row. At this moment Don is in the middle of the shooting of the video clip for his new single “Never Too Later (To Die), which will feature a Bonny & Clide meets Natural Born Killers extravaganza. The release is planned for the end of May.
Mixing on gut feeling without compromise, deepening tracks to the max and lay on his sound overwhelmingly, that is the sound of dj Marcello. With a huge 20 years of experience and a massive record collection Marcello is the most seasoned of the dj’s this night. As no other, Mr. Chemistry is still on top of his game, so get ready for a music masterclass by the Mister Miyagi of the Dutch dance scene.
2006 is the year in which Jesse Voorn has worked himself up to the top of the Dutch electro-house scene. Jesse rocks the dance floors with an exceptional energetic and uplifting mix of electro, house, rock, breakbeats and techno. “Why only play one genre if there is so much that is great?”, he tells us. However, there is one thing his trashy house beats have in common, they are funky as hell. And more people have noticed that. International heroes like Mylo, James Zabiela and Don Diablo already praised his mixing. Also the bookers of this years Dancevalley, FFWD, Sensation Black and the Free Your Mind festival are stoked about the bloke. While it’s raining bookings, things are looking pretty sunny for this sympathetic DYI-er.
