Sónar continues with the presentation of sound proposals, which combine electronics and an acoustic format. Ryuichi Sakamoto is back after two years, offering a different experience. After collaborating with Pan Sonic, Fennesz and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC), the Japanese artist now has formed an alliance with Alva Noto in a performance with an emotional structure of minimal forms.
For the fourth year in a row, Sónar and L’Auditori de Barcelona combine forces to present a musical act of exceptional character: Carsten Nicolai, known in experimental electronic circles as Alva Noto, and Ryuichi Sakamoto will present the live version of “Insen”, a high tech meditation exercise in which Nicolai dissects recordings of Sakamoto’s live piano performances with the precision of a surgeon, locating the micro-loops that constitute their essential elements.
These sound atoms establish a new basis for wrapping piano notes through floating rhythms, harmonic sequences, and melodic counterpoints. Exquisite multi screen visuals that constantly interact with sound set all of this off.
With "Insen", Alva Noto (aka Carsten Nicolai) and Ryuichi Sakamoto pick up the collaboration they started with "Vrioon". Without a doubt, it will be a pleasant experience for fans of these two geniuses as well as for those who will attend the performance at L’Auditori attracted by the curiosity of discovering new sound experiences.
