News: report: integrate

Report: Integrate Arriving around 23:00 hr. at the Outland club a tent was placed in front of the entrance with some heaters to make the waiting a little bit more comfortable.

Entering the building, the first impression was ‘wow, what a modern club’ maybe even a little too, which gave it some sterile atmosphere. The following surprises were the wardrobe, which costs 1.5 euro per item and the coins for the drinks; 5 for 11 euro. Rather expensive compared to other places, and it was obvious how the new owner would earn back his 6 million euro investment.

The main floor was nice, with a large bar in the back and two rings of other floors around it. The sound level was ok and the lightshow was cool. Walking around to discover the venue the top floor was found after a lot of stairs. Entering the dome was a great moment; one had a great 360 degrees view to the surroundings and the sky. Unfortunately, it was very quiet at that moment. As well as the amount of people present in the dome as the volume of the music which was more on café-level. Size had some nice records, but he had problems with the sound system as well. The monitors were fixed in a construction placed several meters away from the dj-booth. In the dark basement is was also very quiet and it took a long time before the crowd picked up the very smooth and subtle build up set of Max Duley; he started from ambient towards the characteristic Lost techno in one great line with nice ups and downs taking you with him on his musical trip.

In the main hall Agent was already hitting the audience with the harder techno beats and this largest and most busy area the people were dancing a lot with a nice atmosphere. Downstairs Steve Bicknell opened with Lill Louis’ blackout and Joey Beltram’s Energy Flash to make the crowd dance and as expected, those classics always work. After this opening it took him some time to find the typical drive and sound he is known for, but when he found it he was like a locomotive not willing to stop. In the main hall Bold showed that he was worth to replace Rush. With an energetic sound and good mixing skills he made the audience dance on and on. A nice laser show was cool to watch from one of the rings on the floors above the main floor.

In the dome upstairs Guido Schneider started his set and fortunately somebody had found the volume control. But most people were sitting and talking and the dance floor was not very much used during the whole evening, although Guido played a lot of well known records of last year. Surgeon opened in the basement with a very nice intro and took the crowd into the depths with nice records a lot of people were dancing as they all should and with screams and hands in the air they let Surgeon know that what he was doing was well appreciated. In the main hall Frank Kvitta started his set with a overwhelming sound; it was a big mayhem with an incredible tempo and a lot of people were busy with ‘hakken’ and ‘hardstyle huppelen’. Back in the basement Surgeon ensured us of quality and a very good set, but with less sidesteps and different records as usual. He brought the night around 6:00 hr. to an end in the basement.

In the main hall Frank Kvitta continued almost half an hour longer and then the enthusiast people finally had to leave. The girls of the wardrobe could not find my coat and I already had a pretty unpleasant trip to home in mind. And yes, that became the truth; although you pay 1.5 euros, your coat is not ensured to be safe there. Big disappointing and with the temperatures that night waiting on the train stations in only a trainings jack is not that preferable. Luckily, I had enough of anti-freeze in my body, thanks to the beers.

On the cold way back to home, I made up my mind: It was a good evening, I heard some nice sets and the club was all right, but the prices for the drinks and wardrobe were too high. I think that most will agree on that. Although Rush was not able to come, Bold had done a great job and the majority of the public, that came to hear the harder techno sounds in the main hall will have had a great night. In the minimal dome the volume should be better so people will dance. The basement was ok, but if it was filled a little bit more and earlier than there would be more atmosphere as well.

regardless of what the oprganisation says about their responsibility about the wardrobe, you can always hold them responsible for lost subjects which you gave away for the wardrobe. A while ago there has been a lawsuit (I'm not completely familiar with the name of it) which said that the organisation who makes subjects from the wardrobe disappear are responsible for the lost subjects.

And besides that, i could not see why they are NOT responsible. You pay for a service, wich automaticly makes them responsible for the quality of that service, easy as that. If you are at the computer store and pay them to fix your computer and get no computer back at all the case is quite clear, isn't it? Well, i don't see the difference between that situation and yours...

I think it's just like things as 'administratie kosten'. People pay them, but you mostly don't have to. The problem is most people don't know that. When a company gives you a bill with (for example) 20 euro's administration costs on it, they have to prove that they actually made those costs, wich mostly isn't true at all (company's just love automated processes... :mrgreenicon_smile.gif.

What i meant to say is that company's easily say it's like this, or like it's that, and people just think it's true while in the end it's not like this or that at all. Maybe you could still try something... jacket's are mostly not the cheapest clothes..

Let me explain to you just what i mean, let me teach y'all a lesson 'bout this drummachine!

What was so high tech about the club? It certainly wasnt the entrance work flow. That was about the slowest ever seen. At first I thought they had a no drugs policy and everyone was about to get strip searched. It was rather a suprise to see no one got searched and all the waiting was because of the guestlist. The guestlist people didnt have to wait in line (we found that one out a bit late) but because of the slow system, regular guests had to wait inline till those guestlist people were out of the front hall. Working with mail and mobile message's suplying codes dont work when you print out those lists and search them by hand, put a laptop there next time.

I didnt believe the club was so high tech as they announced it in the media. The bar was quick, the atmosphere in the main room was good. The lower room was too dark. There are better ways of creating an underground atmosphere then just shut of most lights. The upper room was to light and ow I entered that one when some kind of over-blond, over dressed, chick was talking into a camera sooo I left that one prety quick.

I was in Outland when it was LaXala, I was there when it was A20. And all and all I didn't find it that high tech to be honost. I can't say anything about the music I'm affraid. Didnt made it thru Bicknells set. He started nice with those classics and I hoped he would keep that up. Instead of that it became a bit boring and together with an already boring room to start with. It just sounded like a difficult task to wait another 1.5 hours just to see surgeon. So we left.

ps: next to our drinks we paid 10 euros for expenses like parking/wardrobe/toilet and we drank vodka so the toilet visits weren't the big payout. I think it's a bit to much for just a clubnight.

I agree.....

Ps: You didn't miss too much of Surgeons set, he is one of my favourites, but he dissapointed me a little this time. It was nice, but not Superb! icon_biggrin.gif

Strangely I don't read anything about the 3 or 4 fights there were inside the building. I think the atmosphere was LAME all over the place!

Couldn't loose my egg in Outland! icon_whistle.gif
