Beatfreax reporter DNNS writes;
Last Saturday finally there was a progressive party in my schedule. The Panama opened her doors for Mr Nick Warren, the famous British dj and producer who just finished the latest release on the massive Global Underground series, Shanghai 28.
We arrived in Amsterdam around 23.15 and when we entered the arena for this night, Miss Nine was already spinning her records. The last couple of weeks she was touring around the world with Deep Dish during their ‘George Is On’ tour, so my expectations were very high. She started her set with in my opinion a groovy club sound, which was very nice for a starter. Zipping on my triangular Heineken Longneck, i realised again this is going to be a hell of a night. At one point she even played the Âme hit ‘Rej’!! Her set was nice, solid, a few mixing mistakes but in the end the whole crowd was ready for Nick Warren.
Around 01.30 Mister Warren entered the dj-booth which was seated in the middle of the dance floor. Normally i don’t like this kind of creativity, but for this night it was just fine, because there wasn’t any distance between the dj and his audience. The moment Nick Warren put his first cd in his Pioneer the crowd went completely mad and didn’t stop till 04.00. At this point I want to apologize to all the Randstad party people. It is possible to built a party in your district!! Just invite the right artist, or even better go to the right club night.
Nick Warren had a great, very great record choice, but that’s all there is. I couldn’t discover the course he was going; he didn’t build in any direction. It were just nice, very nice records. I am a little disappointed in one of the biggest progressive names around, especially in his technical mixing skills.
The party people made this party to a success and you don’t hear me say that about the west-coast Partyscene a lot!
