Martin L. Gore, Dave Gahan and Andrew Fletcher – otherwise known as Depeche Mode – have been confirmed for FIB Heineken 2006.A Necessity Called Depeche Mode
With a song book that has defined a unique style, aesthetic and scope, Depeche Mode have developed a one-of-a-kind personality that has placed them in a league all their own. For this reason, FIB Heineken 2006 is overjoyed to feature the most important trio in electronic music today in the upcoming Festival. A live show that promises to be very special., both in form and content, one of those moments that can already be remembered as historic in the Festival.
These Englishmen will be promoting Playing The Angel, their new disc recorded on Mute, Daniel Miller’s label. It was Daniel Miller who recognised the talent of the boys from Basildon who, back in the eighties, called themselves Composition of Sound and wrote irresistibly contagious synthetic, futuristic and groundbreaking pop songs – both elegant and organic – until they changed their name and a legend was born.
Countless songs like “What’s Your Name”, “New Life”, “See You”, “Leave In Silence”, “People Are People”, “Master And Servant”, “Never Let Me Down Again”, “Personal Jesus”, “In Your Room” and “It’s No Good” give a good idea of their prolific past and have paved the way for no-less thrilling and exciting newer tunes like “Precious”, “Nothing’s Impossible”, “A Pain That I’m Used To” and “Suffer Well”.
Suffice it to say that reasons abound for wanting to experience up close the melodic essence of Martin L. Gore and the vocal and visual prowess of Dave Gahan. Together with Andrew Fletcher the picture is complete – a group, much like Kraftwerk, that is best appreciated when seen and heard live. It ain’t for nothing that millions of fans and people like Carl Craig, The Hacker, Fangoria and Richie Hawtin, to name a few, refer to them as their pillars of preference and inspiration. Moreover, their presence in the new edition of the Festival implies a magical moment within that framework which makes the event unforgettable. The Green Stage will welcome the essence of the best electronic pop and will give it back to those who want to feel up close the magic of a unique concert.
So, you see, there is great joy in announcing and celebrating this exceptionally good news. And soon we will reap the rewards: Depeche Mode is coming to FIB Heineken 2006!
