The leftfield jazz and soulful house DJ recorded the show alongside prominent hip hop artist and producer Common in New York, to launch the MotoROKR handset, the first mobile phone with iTunes.
Their recording represents one of the first times that songs from multiple artists have been individually licensed from record labels specifically for podcasting.
The theme of the hour-long show was based around great musical collaborations, with Peterson and Common discussing and playing their favourite collaborative tracks.
Ironically, Peterson and Common – two contemporary musical maestros - had never actually met before this project.
Among the tracks they play and discuss are A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Scenario’, Tiombe Lockhart’s ‘Johnnie Walker’ and Gil Scott-Heron’s ‘Home Is Where The Hatred Is’.
Podcasting is a digital audio recording that is delivered via an RSS feed as a download, but many podcasts that carry music infringe copyright.
