The long awaited return of the ROS 701, better known as the MS Stubnitz is finally coming to reality. The former high sea trawler which currently serves as a cultural production platform is setting sail for the docks of Rotterdam.

The long awaited return of the ROS 701, better known as the MS Stubnitz is finally coming to reality. The former high sea trawler which currently serves as a cultural production platform is setting sail for the docks of Rotterdam. Back in the year 2001 the MS Stubnitz held service as a mobile stage during the festivity’s which were held as a part of the “Rotterdam: Cultural Capital of Europe 2001” events. The MS Stubnitz then proved to be a very special and atmospheric background for a number of dance events.

Sound Architecture came to the idea of bringing back the 78 meter long trawler when they were searching for original locations. Since a period of time complaints started coming out of the Rotterdam party crowd about the lack of innovating and interesting locations which were being used by the different Rotterdam based event promoters and record labels. Sound Architecture has always been one of those organisations who try to create a stimulating environment, were the crowd, the music and the scenery blends together as if their were one.

From June the 2nd till June the 24th MS Stubnitz and Sound Architecture are serving you a variety of electronic music orientated events. During this period MS Stubnitz will be the stage for a large number of artists, who are expected to re-set the boundaries of electronic music.

The events will rise above the current club standards in Rotterdam for programming, as the line-up clearly shows. No longer will there be a separation between the various styles of electronic dance music. Visitors can expect anything ranging from techno to “warp-like” electronica, minimal click house to nu-jazz / broken beats and electro to drum ‘n bass. Even ambient sound scapes and performances by rock and punk bands will be present during these events.

For this special occasion Sound Architecture and MS Stubnitz invited several innovative organisations to collaborate during this project. The invited organisations are all proven factors that have stood firmly trough out the years. As small independent organisations they always stayed true to their believes and gradually grew out of the underground. Nowadays organisations such as Crème organisation, Clone and Viewlexx to name a few, are filling in key positions within the electronic music scene. Furthermore local organisations and labels like Worm, Grammar, Duracell and Subtronics will take part in the action.

Sound Architecture and MS Stubnitz will be very pleased to see you taking part of this special series of events. We all hope to see you there!
